All started about March time with dad not feeling well. Now got to the stage of finding out end of Aug that he has terminal Pancreatic cancer, 4weeks ago he decided not to have chemo as didnt want the extra side affects. So were told that the time he had left was around 3-6months or up to 10. Hes just had a week in hospital because they think hes had an internal bleed. Not knowing who, what or where I am at the mo. Sooooooo not looking 4ward to whats ahead :(

  • My cancer journey
    My journey begins

A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with T2 Squamous Cell Carcinoma, or Mouth Cancer as its more commonly known – specifically on the left side of my tongue.

The choice method of saving my life and removing the tumour is to perform a radical neck dissection to remove my lymph nodes in the left side of my neck. Along with this I will be having a partial glossectomy (The removal of about half my visible tongue) and have a stoma fitted so I can breathe whilst my throat etc heals.

    Sufficed to say I...

    Approaching 3rd chemo
My third chemo is due in 4 days, really hope it's not delayed again but as I'm still battling this cold I'm fully expecting it to be put back again :( Had awful news last Wednesday that my father in law's oral cancer has spread all over his skull and his consultant has advised his he has 3 months. He's been through such a lot, massive 11hr last November, skin and bone grafts, radiotherapy and recovered well or so we thought until he began to have a lot of pain... This is why. I'm absolutely devastated...

    Emotions suddenly hit home
Emotions suddenly hit home My lovely wife Sue is doing well now she has got over a heavy cold, fortunately she was at her worst while I was in hospital but felt guilty not being at home to support her. My treatment has been increased yet again. Two lots of chemo last week (week commencing 15 October 2012)at even higher doses of Methotrexate through my brain etc followed 24 hours later by ARA-C another chemo that gets through the blood brain barrier into my spinal fluid and brain. They give me...

    waiting

It has been 3 weeks since I have had an operation - hysterectomy and appendix removal and biopsy of the omentum. This was following the removal of an ovarian cyst that was removed and tested - the reaults were borderline. I am waiting for the biopsy results to see if the cyst has affected my stomach or not . It is hell. I want the results now but I am also terrified of what they might say - I still do not think I have fully accepted what has already taken place. It seems like my brain cannot process...

    An Ali MacBeal moment...
So..I'm running for the lift (hospital ones are 'like' full when they arrive or just don't turn up, or are going down down down) when I do a splendid head first, limbs asunder, spectacular fall in front of everyone. Head almost came to a rest against a sign perched against the wall saying 'life support machines nearby, please turn off your mobile phones'..I thought this may not be the time to turn mine off.... Bounced up like a crazy chick, said 'the starbucks is okay', brushed myself down and climbed...

    Next Steps

Well it’s nearly Monday 5th November when I have my scan,
and I have managed to largely forget about cancer for the last 12 weeks as they
left me without any treatment (which I was pleased about).

Recurrent cancer in my pelvis feb 2012 chemo booked twice but
cancelled as I managed to get surgery to remove this in June. Scan August
showing lung mets 6 tiny ones and two others, left me 6 weeks to see if these
little ones are growing, next scan showed 2 larger ones had grown so this is
    definitely cancer...
