Blogging can be a great way to journal your experiences and share with others. Why not create your own cancer journey blog, or have a read of other blogs created by our members?

Last Friday, September 26th marked Mesothelioma Awareness Day, and to recognise this Mesothelioma.com got in touch a while back, asking if I'd like to help them raise a further awareness of Mesothelioma, the dangers of asbestos and other asbestos-related diseases.
Below is a summary as to what the day's all about:
Mesothelioma Awareness Day (MAD) strives to inform others about this rare cancer caused by asbestos.
The ramifications of asbestos exposure have lasted far past its first connection...
The beginning.
At some point in the summer of 2019 I started to notice a feeling of something stuck in my throat. Having a look in the mirror was a bit tricky and although my right tonsil was swollen i didn't pay much attention. I should say I suffered from bad tonsil infections in my youth and when I saw it swollen again I didn't pay much attention. I gargled with salt water for a week or so, then had another look.
This time there was definitely something on my tonsil - something that could...
The last blog post I wrote made me think further about living well in the face of living with cancer, and transitioning into feeling positive intuitively.
I was thinking that living with cancer is amongst other things a time of living with both reflections and actions. Looking backwards can be a little dangerous and frustrating, because that old question “what if” can’t be answered. I think everyone with, or affected by cancer, asks themselves that a lot, especially initially, but there...
Just last week, Anna got in touch with me to share the below heartfelt and uplifting story which can only be described as “the ultimate teddy bear’s picnic”. Anna’s mum sadly passed away with cancer quite recently, and given the family’s rather creative history, the picnic served as the perfect tribute to Anna’s mum...
A teddy bear’s picnic
Recently my mum passed away from cancer after only finding out about it 5 months ago. It was a very tough journey and...
After a adverse reaction to a bcg treatment for bladder cancer in 2017 I have become increasingly unwell and have spent most of 2019 in hospital. After numerous tests and biopsies my medical team have concluded that the most likely diagnosis is a rare form of TB. I am now at home and have started treatment of large doses of antibiotics and steroids. I understand that the treatment will be for 6months+. I have started this blog so that anyone who has an adverse reaction to BCG treatment can be aware...
Well there’s nothing quite like a funeral and your own scan results to make you look at yourself and what you are going to do going forward.
I said in my last blog I had no sweeping statement about the future and I suppose I still don’t. My cousins funeral was in May and it was very touching the church was packed and the crematorium was overflowing with people and the scenery in Scotland was beautiful. I made the decision to come back to volunteering with Macmillan as a champ, I had taken a...
Well, despite the title I have bitten the bullet and joined my local gym.
The main challenge I have, well apart from breathing after the cardio, is trying to exercise without losing weight! Although I live in a village, we have a wonderful little sports club with a decent size gym 2 minutes walk from my house. Although they haven’t yet implemented the GP referral scheme, the instructors have received training to enable them to structure a training plan around your physical problems, mine being osteoporosis...
It’s September, so time to share our favourite ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ tips for the past month. What a month it’s been for, so I’ve gone ahead and thrown in few extra ones – this month there’s a focus on ‘distractions’.
“I watch my dogs happy and content in the moment. Be like them, forget the past, you can't change it. Live for the moment, enjoy all you see and hear. Look forward to the future. Be brave, ask for help, and love all around you…...
Our Community is for everyone affected by cancer, that can be the person with the diagnosis, or the person’s partner, husband, wife, son, daughter, relative, colleague or friend. That’s why we have our Family and friends group.
This is the second Community News post in a series that looks at our Family and friends group which is a great place to get advice on talking to, listening to, understanding, and helping someone who has cancer.
Here are a few recent highlights from the group to...
I have been away from the Online Community for a little while (albeit checking in from time to time). I think it is a natural result as day-to-day life becomes a little busier than when we were dealing with the grind of treatment or the immediate aftermath and recovery. I have seen some upsetting stories in recent days and my thoughts inevitably turn to those who I am in contact with on here and whose narrative I have seen as they fight a recurrence of the illness.
So, as an update, where am I and...
