    Feeling Guilty

Just been given the news that my sister in law has been told she only has 2 weeks and will be going into a hospice.  She was diagnosed with grade 4 lung cancer at the same time I was diagnosed with grade 3 ductal breast cancer.

Our journey has been si different.  I have the most treatable form of cancer whereas she was told it would be palliative care only.  We started chemotherapy within weeks of each other.  My first session took one hour and hers took 5 days before it got finished due to...

  • My Journey at 23
Chapter 10; Not the news I was expecting...

    Hi everyone

So the Mirena has been in for 6 months now, as as planned, yesterday I had my hysteroscopy and biopsy.

I spoke to my consultant before I went in and she was certain everything would look fine!

I come round from the GA and she tells me my uterus looks exactly how it did 6 months ago. This was not what any of us were expecting and I feel crushingly disappointed and upset.

She’s sent the biopsy off urgently again so I’ll have to wait 2-3 weeks for the results. Depending on that...

  • My Dad
    Home on Saturday

Looking forward to collecting my Dad from hospital on Saturday to take him home for 5 days before he returns to have another port fitted and start a new bout of chemo, hoping it has some effect. I know these times have to be treasured and remembered especially with the prognosis as it is and plan to make the most of every moment.

I certainly receive strength from people's comments and feel supported through reading about those in similar circumstances

  • My journey with breast cancer
    Second week

Things do get better, this is my second week. I always tell myself, it is my responsibility to influence change around me. That is exactly what I have done. I stood up and fight for what I think is fair for me. I do not think is fair to treat people the same, these are individuals treat them so. Because I had cancer doesn't mean I am as vulnerable as a person next door. Talk to me to find out how I feel. I still don't think being diagnosed with cancer at an early stage is the worse news ever. To...

Things I learnt going through breast cancer treatment

    Preparing for cancer

Things I learnt that I hope help others I've listed below

Of course you can't prepare for those words you have cancer. It's like someone has punched you right in the gut and you are sinking to the depths of despair.

Picture in the sun me February 2016 in Portugal loving life feeling good.

Me a couple of months later during chemo treatment. Yes I look scary imagine how I felt but I got through it and now you would never know to look at me what I...

  • My Dad
    Feeling numb

I suppose I always knew that this day had to come but however much you try and prepare it still hits you hard - like a punch in the gut. The hardest thing, as well as trying to get my brain round the fact that my Dad  is unlikely to be around come Christmas, is that I am the support for my mum and my sister - everyone turns to me. They have done since the diagnosis and although this is fine, most of the time, sometimes it feels as though no one thinks about me. Not a great talker with regards to...

Colon Cancer Follow up Scan Results. Worried!!

Hi everyone I'm just after a bit of advice please. My dad was diagnosed last jan 17 with colon cancer and it was in 6 lymph nodes out of 24.

He then had a total perm bowel removal and managed to complete 5 chemo sessions out of 12. He looked so poorly last year but he now looks the picture of health bless him.

We were all looking forward to getting the all clear from his first CT scan in Jan this year but his surgeon advised him that a tiny something come up on his liver?! The surgeon...

  • Whipples 12months on
    FEB 2018

Its been just over 12 months since my Whipples Procedure. I cant begin to describe the anguish I first felt when I was given the diagnosis  Dec 2016 of a pancreatic tumour at which point it was uncertain whether it was malignant or benign. I was advised that a whipples procedure was my best course of action.

I underwent a Whipples procedure in Jan 2017 and my suggested 2 week hospital stay turned into 2 months due to post operative issues including dumping syndrome and POTS, low blood pressure,...
