Had a good day today - spent a fun morning at Acorn Animal Farm in Knowsley near Liverpool. Chased up my Mac grant today, i should have the paperwork through on Monday i hope i get it approved to help pay for Sarah's accomodation whilst im in hospital. Pain was a bit worse today had to take a bit extra Oramorph then previously, although the Mac nurse said i'm having hardly any at the moment so i guess thats good to know. 32 days to my op.

The last 24 hours or so
This is my 3rd blog on here, and I still feel lik i dont belong, think that is what we all feel though. Yesterday my mum was going to Rotherham hospital to have a Bronchoscopy, I had very mixed feelings about this as it was the first real appointment that my mum has had since we found out that she had Lung cancer and secondry Brain tumour, Me and my partner picked my mum up at 10am and made our way there, the mod was sooooo quite in the car on the way there. When we got there my mum felt so relax...

    Next stop, Oncology Dept...
Hello One and All, Have a request to send a wee prayer on my behalf as I am scheduled to meet with my Oncologist this Monday, August 17th. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer( invasive, grade III) this past June. An annual mammogram picked up a cluster and the rest is history. I know Dr. Chan is going to lay out a course of treatment for me, and I am getting nervous with the prospects. Am scheduled to start rad. in September. Thank you in advance for your well wishes and prayers. ...

Hope this is just a blip!!
Having a down day today, in tears all morning imagining the worst. I knew it would come, but wasn't sure when. Went downstairs this morning and was greeted by chaos, dishes everywhere, enough dog hair on the kitchen floor to stuff a cushion, and a pile of dirty washing. Nothing changes, life around you just carries on as normal!! A friend asked me if I had sourced any nightwear or bra's for after my op and to be quite honest I had to confess that the thought hadn't even occurred to me. Would be...

    dad passed away
i never expected to be writing this so soon, i thought i was coping quite well and that when it eventually happened i would be very well prepared, but i think i was only just coming to terms with the diagnosis, my special dad survived 3 months and 2 days since his gastroscopy (the day of diagnosis). on wednesday night i gave him some oral pain relief kissed him goodnight and told him i loved him, so did my older brother, we were staying with my mum and dad because he was so poorly, it was just like...

I'm so glad this site exists
Oh this site makes me feel so much better. I've been bottling up a lot of feelings I had for the longest time, and now for the first time ever I don't feel so crazy, or childish, or selfish.

    counselling, or lack of
Intested to see the earlier blog asking about counselling. In this part of the Midlands, none is available. Our GPs are very supportive, but we really don't like bothering them unless there is a medical reason. Even though they show genuine concern , they can only offer sleeping tablets and anti-depressants. The local cuncil run carers association is only concernd with helping carers get benefits. I did ask at the local hospce, but nothing there either. On the subject of the hospice, unbeknown...

So, I'm blogging now.. Some of you know me from chat. I'm a carer, not a patient. My son Frankie...........he's on week 9 of his treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. He's had such a great week it's been like seeing the old Frankie again. The lively one, the cheeky one. But yesterday he had his Vincristine (chemo) in his line and he's tired and can't get up the stairs. It's awful to see a 4 year old boy go through this. It's awful for anyone with cancer. All he wants to do today is lie...

    Day 5 Tax
Well.... this has been an interesting 5 days. Treatment day was a breeze and finished with me feeling quite energetic. This wasn’t just ‘not feeling tired,’ it was spontaneous motivation to scrub the bathroom. Given that I am no domestic goddess, this was as welcome as it was a surprise! Day 2 followed in a similar vein with lots of housework getting done (this time focussed in the kitchen). It felt great – I realised that had forgotten what normal felt like. I felt that I had started...
