Bren pops his head round the mac door
(Sunday) It's been so long since I have been a regular visitor to mac, and the reasons for stopping now seem immaterial. Get yourself in there and see your friends I keep telling myself. After a shuffle around I see so much has happened and I have missed such a lot of good and (sadly) bad news. So to lead me into it steadily I will bring things up to date, quite timely because my next 6 monthly visit to my friendly neighbourhood oncoligist is due on Tuesday.
Over the last months I seem...

Bren sprays the Mac door hinges with WD40 and looks in after a long time away.

A close neighbour of mine lost her husband after a marriage of about 50 years and I still remember her comment to me about him - "He was a good man" so simple and eloquent but saying everything it needs to. My impression of Alan was that he was also...

    Russells Journey

I would like to share our experiences as i have found a lot of help and comfort from this site......... It is written from my heart.

Wow what a rollercoaster of emotions to find out about Russell's oesophical cancer was such a shock because of inital clear chest x-rays and bloods, although he was having trouble swallowing and eating.

A week later he had the endoscopy after which we were told that this was very very serious and the endoscope couldn't pass a 'mass' at the base of his oesophicus...

We had no need to be his nurse was absolutely fantastic and made us both feel at ease and explained  everthing step by step .

She took bloods and said we needed a count of at least 10 to do it so we waited an hour for the results to come back .........   216 woo hoo bring it on .

She explained that consultant had ask for a harvest of 3 which she said was a normal amount to request .

    Back home again.

The pain is manageable but not under total control.  Quantities of Meds are quite high but we will just have to see over the next 4 weeks if the Radio does anything to help.

We have been able to get out for short visits to friends that has cheered us both up.

Grip and balance are still not perfect and I am having to watch her every move but things are better than 3 weeks ago.
