  • Bladder cancer story
    the story so far

Diagnosed with superficial papillary type bladder cancer in March 2010. TURBT with mitomycin on 28 April.

Expecting regular follow up with removal of recurrences. My brother had bladder cancer diagnosed about 12 years ago but now discharged from follow up.

Follow up for histology results on 26 May. What a shock. It's grade 3. The Consultant suggests a further biopsy to check if it's already gone to the muscle wall. If so, cystectomy is the only option. If it was still superficial, they can offer...

    A chink of light

Well after my ridiculous trauma with the MRi i think i may a little stable now (mentally I mean). I have seen the consultant the oncologist and today the plastics man.

My experience with the oncologist was good,he was human yes human and get this he had a sense of humor, he made the discusson so much more easy, and i felt i was able to ask as many questions as i wanted to.

Well it turns out that this dark evil visitor i have is getting the old heave ho on 23rd June and good riddance I say.  The...

Dad's CT results after Folfox + Cetuximab Chemo for secondary bowel cancer

Hey peeps! Some of you know Dad was diagnosed with secondary bowel cancer last December, and he has been on 7 cycles of chemo since January/February this year. Today he had his CT result (picture taken mid-way through chemo) and results are brilliant-no trace of cancer in the liver anymore, so no liver resection to be done...however, there was still a small amount of primary tumor in the bowel, so within the next few months he will have that removed. So, he is almost 'disease-free' to the amazement...

    Mis-Diagnosis!

Ok, ive got to get this off my chest.  Everyday I go on this site and everyday I read of a person being diagnosed with a terminal form of cancer - in most of these cases its primarily terminal because the GP has failed to diagnose earlier.  Had some of these cases been caught earlier some of these lovely people would survive.  Only today a young mother in the Daily Mail was mis-diagnosed for months! with migraines only to be told many months later after collapsing she had a terminal brain tumour.  This...

  • My granddad has cancer
    My granddad has cancer.

I am new here, my name is Sam I am 26 and an art teacher and my dear granddad was diagnosed with cancer on tuesday. He has been unwell for quite some time, loss of appetite, a cough, loss of weight and generally not feeling as active as normal.

He is 85 years young, my rock, my icon, my guide and now he needs me. I am petrified of losing him to this disease, tomorrow he is having his bowels checked to see if the cancer is there too, they suspect it is but cannot be 100% certain until tomorrow.
