    Day 64

Another day closer to the impending doom of chemo and radio. Oh joy of joys.  I have managed to get some work done today, which was nice.  Some of you might consider that an odd statement, but getting some work done meant that not all of my day was taken up with things related to cancer.  In other words its another step closer to what my life used to be like before the cancer.  I'll take those steps however I can :-)

Thats not to say I got anything terribly meaningful done, I am attempting to learn a...

    Last Day at Parents Home

Tomorrow is probably the last day I will go to the house I grew up in. The local hospice charity shop are coming to look at the remaining furniture to see if they can take it and then we hand the keys back in.

All of the personal stuff has been sorted. I went in over the weekend to move some more stuff and it was horrible seeing my family home like that.

I'm also going back to work this week, only part time to start with to see how I cope. Some days are ok and I can get through with some sense...

Tiredness, MacMillan Organizer & General Musings

This is probably only going to be of interest to me!  I seem to be becoming more navel-gazing as the days go by but, even if this blog serves only as a record for me to look back on, that's ok!

I was diagnosed with leukemia about a year ago.  I'm never sure in things which have public viewing, just how much detail to go into so I'll just add some basics for now and maybe add more detail as I go along.  For the last year, things have trogged along fairly comfortably with my blood results...

    Day 62

Another Saturday done, been a quiet sort of day. The kids spent a good chunk of the afternoon down the park playing, which is good, we had that little monkey of a granddaughter come round for a couple of hours, which is always nice. Shame I fell asleep again on the sofa whilst she was here, I rather feel like I missed out a bit.

Other than that, nothing much has been going on, I have once again gone the entire day without feeling hungry. I ate some breakfast at like ten o'clock, not because I wanted...

  • After he has gone.......
    9 weeks
Today it is nine weeks since Doug passed away and tomorrow would have been his 53rd birthday. I have bought him a card because it felt right to do so. I shall sit by the olive tree in the garden planted in his memory and I plan to scatter some of his ashes around the tree, have a coffee and hopefully the sun will shine. None of his family have been in touch and I dont expect them to, they hardly bothered with him when he was here except for right at the end and they sure dont bother with me....

  • I miss you
I just want to tell you everything

I want to tell you things I never got the chance too.

You did so much for me, yet I never showed gratitude. I am deeply sorry. You were and still are everything to me. I will never forget your face, smile, laugh, voice.. everything you've done for me.

You tried to guide me but I was too weak to follow, I led myself into trouble and in to the wrong paths and you happily stood there and waited for me to carry on guiding me. You never judged me, you always showed me love. You once told me you...

  • I miss you
    It was 5 months yesterday

I am still hurting, with you gone.

I just want to hear your voice, be able to pick up the voice and have you listen and talk to me.

I miss your voice, the way you'd laugh and say "Ayup".

I just keep thinking you're sat at home in your chair watching Jeremy Kyle, cup of tea in hand. But you're not. You're with the Angels now.

I just sometimes with you would give me a sign that you're still there.

    Day 61

So.  What a day today has been.  I got a last moment appointment for my "planning" session for the radiotherepy - in, wait for it, Maidstone.  Some nonsense about refurbishment and the wrong kind of CT scanner ruling out a much more sensible William Harvey or Kent and Canterbury which are much closer to home.

Oh well, a 40 min drive is hardly high on my list of complaints right not, so off I toddle.  It started at 10:45 and I was reliably informed I'd be done at 1pm.  Psh.  I finally made it...
