Meeting with consultant clarified that despite the RT being targetted they have decided to do a full 'belt and braces' approach which will see both sides of neck and top of chest being treated - the left side of neck and chest will receive a lower dose rate than that of primary and tumour sites on right side of neck. Also advised to gargle with aspirin as well as salt gargling (anyone would think I had nothing better to occupy my time during the day than gargling - still I suppose it is doctors orders...
I feel really sad and depressed at time as my husband does not want anyone to know he has cancer.His cancer has spread to the lymph nodes and now the bones, he is fit and well and has always kept himself that way all his life. I do not understand. He is 60 and i will loose him before retirement together.
The radio therapy starts tomorrow. The last few days have been as bad as can be as we had it confirmed that with the rt being where it is there is a 2-1% chance of late onset blindness.
WOW !! that means a 98% chance of it not happening !!
Nasal cancer is very rare and he got that. I know I shouldn't say these things but what is this page for if I can't put it down.

Woke up to a beautiful sunny day, after what can only be described as 'broken' sleep. Mouth feels drier already - probably more to do with the saltwater gargles, which brings back (fond) memories of a swim across the Solent a couple of years back! Still it is a nice day so off for a 30 minute run with the dog. And so the first day of RT has finally arrived. Didn't sleep well last night as knocked the PEG tube during night (felt as though someone had poked me with a hot knitting needle). Hi Everyone
Was diagnosed in December 2012 with Melanoma - had the mole from my leg removed then further surgery and was advised they had caught it all.
5 Weeks ago found a lump in my groin Biospy found it was Melanoma that had spread into my Lympth Node.
Just had surgery 2 weeks ago to remove all Lympth Nodes in my groin and awaiting the results to see if it has spread into any of the others.
