Well hello lovely people.

I'm new here, and totally new to all this, as I've luckily not had family or friend connections to cancer.

My journey started two weeks ago, and due to go into hospital on 30th April.

I've written the important bits on my profile so won't bore you with it here too!

  • Hello and welcome to the community.   I'm sure you're feeling rather overwhelmed by everything at the moment but you will find lots of support here.  No question is too strange and there  is always someone who has been through the same thing.  I was able to have keyhole surgery but I saw on your profile that you will need abdominal surgery and there will be others here who have had that.  Have you been given a provisional stage/grade for your cancer?

Good luck for the 30th and keep posting to let us know how you are getting on.

    xx

  • Hi Asema. I too am waiting for hysterectomy but have no date yet and have to have open surgery too. Will you be having a general anaesthetic? Everything seems to Happen so fast doesn't it like a whirlwind. I have read lots of pages on here and it is truly supportive.

Yes i think i will have the general, no one has said otherwise to me!

Hell yes it's like a whirlwind! So fast it's scary.

  • The waiting is hard. But this site is so supportive and positive. The advise and support given is amazing.  I am waiting for a 2nd opinion. My consultant asked for it as I am 1b. But realise after hysterectomy they look at the grade....waiting again. The only symptom I had was a salmon pink smearing so was shocked when the biopsy result came back.

Hi Asema ..  I had full hysterectomy last year .. but keyhole . It is a whirlwind initially which is a good thing in a way .  Fingers crossed for you .

  • Hello  , and a very warm welcome to our lovely group here on the online community.

I am really sorry to hear about your diagnosis and obvious worries with open surgery when you already suffer adhesions.

It all sounds a bit like a whirl wind for you from two weeks to having your op, but I am glad to hear things are moving quickly and your not having to wait, waiting honesty is the pits we will all admit to that one. I had well half and half as I was having keyhole surgery but he had to cut from my bellybutton down because I had rather a bulky womb. But its fair to say I was just before 38 when diagnosed and only had a total hysterectomy as treatment, only may not sound much but still major surgery but I know in my case it was no way near as bad as I thought it would be. I too had my cervix, womb ovaries and tubes removed. But I have no children which did sort of upset me as my choice was taken from me, but it was the deal I was dealt.

The thing is the lovely ladies here are very supportive a fantastic bunch, no question too big or small and lots of combined knowledge, with different treatments. Oh and most important lots of virtual hugs to go round.

  • Hi Asema,

welcome to the group. I too am new here. I had total hysterectomy and tubes and ovaries removed by keyhole surgery on 30th March, three weeks after I had the first symptom. It was all so fast and what with COVID 19 I still haven’t caught up with myself. Fortunately I don’t need any further treatment. My recovery is going well although feels somewhat stark as I decided to self isolate alone after surgery.

Wishing you all the best for your upcoming surgery.

Hi asema and hovehoney, a belated welcome from me to the group as well. Hovehoney, I'm so pleased to hear you have had your surgery and will need no further treatment. Just ensure you rest plenty and don't be tempted to overdo it even if you feel much better, lots of healing to do inside! Asema, I'm glad you don't have to wait long now for your surgery. I too have had a caesarean and had a combination of open surgery and laparoscopic last may. It's not too bad and you will recognise the feeling from the caesarean surgery you have undergone. Be warned you will have a lot of swelling so take loose clothes with you and slip on shoes. I couldn't lay on my side for weeks so extra pillows were a godsend. I hope all goes well for you. Love and hugs. Lamb.xx
