Hi, I’m just over a year on from hysterectomy for Stage 1 grade 1 cancer and apart from ongoing menopausal symptoms and a diagnosis of minor osteoporosis, all’s been ok. I had my normal three monthly checkup today and the first doctor thought she could feel something different internally. Nothing looked different but she felt a lump. She asked the consultant to have a feel and he reassured me that it was ok and possibly some bowel that could be felt. This evening I’ve been having some bleeding- I’m assuming it’s because I had more of an examination but I’ve not had any bleeding before and I’d appreciate any advice. Xx
Hi worried45 I noticed you haven't had a reply. I can't offer any advice I'm afraid other than to maybe give your CNS a ring and see what she says? Hopefully she can put your mind at ease and if she thinks it's necessary get you an appointment to be checked again perhaps.
Hugs, Lesley xx
Hi Poppysmum
i would say contact your gp or CNS x
Hello poppysmum27 thank you and I think I will. X
Hi worried hope you've had your fears allayed. Being a year post hysterectomy I suspect you've had a big drop in estrogen and that makes the vaginal skin thinner and more inclined to bleed easier. Indeed it happened to me after an examination and the consultant gave me some sachets of lubricant. I know use it once a week.
Hi Lesley M thank you for asking, I didn’t get a chance, I’ve ended up not being able to as my early ended up morphing into a very long shift and I’m only just home. The bleeding has stopped so I’m thinking it was just the amount of prodding I had yesterday. I’ll try and ring tomorrow x
Thank you papermoon that makes sense and i most say my skin all over is much dryer so yes it’s probably the oestrogen. I had been debating hrt (the combined one) as I’m struggling with tiredness. insomnia and now osteoporosis. My job is physical and shift based with a lot of unplanned sudden overtime that doesn’t help. I have resisted hrt as I’m not sure about the risk but consultant thinks it’s a possibility as I was low grade/stage. Hard to know quite. X
.
Hello worried45
Excuse my butting in but you sound like me...eager to brush worrying symptoms aside.
You were concerned enough to post here so at least speak to a CSN. I know it’s not the same but I ignored post menopausal bleeding far too long and I regret that now.
Fingers crossed you’re right and it was due to the exam but better safe than sorry xx
Hello Christmas2019 you are not butting in at all. I’m terrible for talking myself out of things- I, like you, ignored symptoms for a long time so I should know better this time. Think because I was examined on Tuesday I’ve put it down to that. The first doctor thought it felt different which is I think what’s making me unsure so even though the bleeding was slight and has stopped I will ring tomorrow. I’m off in the day so I’ll get a chance. I would have today but was too late by the time I could get a break. Thank you all for your advice xx
