Hi if anyone could help with symptoms that they had for womb cancer, I didn’t have a period for two months then had massive bleed which took me to my GP I had a scan which found the lining of my womb to be thick 23mm I am now waiting for my Gynaecologist appointment and I’m frightened as my symptoms are getting worse, I have pain in my left side lower back and left side of stomach bleeding is still very heavy tablets from the doctors won’t stop the bleeding and when I wee it’s stinging a little no infection as I had we tested on Friday at the docs people have said it could be hormone imbalance has anyone found that with similar symptoms it’s not cancer. I also have bad backache
Hi Jody, are you post-menopausal? I have been diagnosed with womb cancer after post menopausal bleeding episodes. Other symptoms appear to be pain around pelvis and lower back. Everybody seems to be different though. Good look with the gynaecologist appointment and hoping it’ll be something else xx
Hi
No I’m only 34 just had baby 5 months ago so when period didn’t come thought it was just because I had a baby, I had every bad pelvic pain too, it’s so worrying I have had a panic attack as I’m so anxious I wish I could switch of but my symptoms are hard to ignore.
Hi I had an absence of periods then a couple of massive bleeds (so bad I needed blood transfusions) transvaginal ultrasound and hysteroscopy showed thick womb lining and a polyp. Further tests showed 1A cancer and I had a hysterectomy...no further treatment. I hope yours turns out to be something other than cancer ...there are lots of more likely outcomes. Stay in touch with us and try to stay off google xx Sending hugs x
Thank you I do to think the waiting is the worst my GP put me on the pathway but that was only because I had complete meltdown as the next appointment was may 2020 she said even though the lining is very thick she doesn’t think it’s that because of my age but people do get it at my age, I couldn’t even imagine waiting until may thank you for your kind msg and will keep you posted xx
Heya Jodie,
First of all, deep breaths and step away from Google!
More often than not, weird bleeding and womb issues isn't going to be cancer. In fact, 90% of the time it's not going to be cancer. However, coming to a cancer forum hoping to find stories where people didn't get cancer isn't going to bear much fruit I'm afraid.
As your friends and family have said, when you've just had a baby then your hormones are going to be all over the place. So any part of your body that deals with hormones or is affected by them, might go a bit wonky.
Quite a common condition people get is called hyperplasia. This hormonal issue thickens the womb lining as you normally do before a period, but then the signal to get rid of the lining doesn't come through so you end up retaining it. Then the next month, more lining is made, and so it becomes a cycle. This is easily fixed with either a coil or some tablets, and is much more common than cancer is.
Stress and anxiety can make you tense, and I mean literally. You tense muscles and hold them tense for minutes or hours, which then results in pain in those areas. But also carrying extra tissue in your womb is going to press on nerves and tendons etc that it shouldn't normally. Then you've basically got a big, extended, more intense period going on. So period pains on steroids. So again, lots of explanations for the pain that don't make it cancer.
The best thing you can do at the moment is distract yourself with getting ready for Christmas, if you celebrate, going out and about with friends and family, cleaning out an old forgotten cupboard, enjoying the markets that are around at the moment, etc etc. Anything to take your mind off it. Also, maybe try downloading some meditation or mindfulness apps, so if you get a second to yourself, or right before bed, you can just take a moment and quiet your mind.
Whatever this turns out to be, you've got it, you'll handle it, and you'll get through it.

Thank you! This message is fabulous and has really helped me to calm down your right I do need to get busy I put off going out with friends Over the weekend due to this!
I am going to keep positive as I don’t know anything yet thank you so much for the positive message xx
Definitely be positive as the odds are overwhelmingly against it being cancer. Look after yourself and take each day as it comes xx
Hi Jodie,
If you arent on any other hormonal contraceptives at the moment you could ask your doctor about getting a mirena coil fitted whilst you wait, I had one fitted while I waited on a diagnosis. The coil helps you shed your womb lining, keeping it healthy. There's more about it on the NHS website if you are interested https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception/ius-intrauterine-system/
When it is fully working periods reduce or stop altogether.
I completely agree with the others about staying positive,
lots of love
