Hello everyone. My first message! Was diagnosed yesterday with uterine cancer! Scared stiff. Got an MRI scan tomorrow to see what grade cancer it is! My cancer nurse is ringing me with the results!! Cannot function. Keep crying. Dreading Christmas

At my hospital once the operation is over successfully, you are referred on to the consultant oncologist who handles both radiotherapy (which includes brachytherapy) and chemotherapy treatment. My operation was successful and  no cancerous cells were left but as they had been grade 3, I wS referred to the oncologist to recommend further preventive treatment.

He recommended a course of vaginal vault brachytherapy (ie radiotherapy) Only. NO chemotherapy which he said he did not feel would be beneficial at this time. Recommendations are made on a case by case basis. An oncologist can recommended radiotherapy only if appropriate, as they  did for me.

Sending my best wishes and prayers for everyone getting their results this week. Whatever the outcome, remember you are not alone in this. Everyone on this site is rooting for you and has different experiences so feel the group virtual hug and comforting arms around you. Good luck everybody. Love lamb.xx

  • thank you Little Lamb,

Just called the hospital to check who I am supposed to be seeing today, not the onco nurse, its my gyno doctor! which I was expecting!  agghhh stress levels off the scale !  I know it was a mistake, but this sort of thing stresses you so much anyway, just the slightest thing floors you!

I will post later with the verdict on my MRI.

    Love

Thanks from me too little lamb! Also, Janet, my stress levels are very high this morning. I have a cold aswell & just had a sobbing episode. Been reading all about radiotherapy etc... which I know is painless but I just want to be left alone now. No more, I’ve had enough. As have we all on here. Just want my appointment over with. Naturally it’s this afternoon so I have all morning to wade through so I will try to keep busy but feel miserable & helpless. Good luck everyone today! Love Carol. Xxx

  • glad its not just me then!  mine is 12.30 so not too long to stew !  I had 3 weeks of RT  with my Breast cancer, It wasn't too bad, you just need to pace yourself.  I drove the 40 mile round trip to hospital for 3 weeks myself.  Listen to your body and rest when you need to.  I will check in with you tonight when we hopefully have lower stress levels.  looking on the bright side, I have lost 16lb in weight because I cannot eat properly, and its payday! x

  • Hi all,

ive had my results today the cancer stayed at stage 1a & the team feel that the hysterectomy was enough x he said the cancer was caught early xxx I will need to checked every 3 months for 5 years Sobthis will gradually reduce over time xxx I’m so emotional Sob xxx still mixed emotions !!! I feel it will take a long time to get over this xxxx hopefully I’ll get back to the old me xxx I feel I’m still on this journey with you all xxxx

  • Hi Margaret,

Thats good news.  the check ups will give to peace of mind as well.  I found while you had the safety net it helped emotions.  Staying in touch with the group will help as well.

    xx
