Hi all, Just a question about follow up's after  my full hysterectomy for womb Cancer. I had it done Jan 31st 2019 and haven't seen anyone for check ups since ? I had breast cancer at the same time and had my Lumpectomy in April, 5 weeks of radio in June and saw my Breast Oncologist in September but haven't had any contact with the Gynaecologists after my hysto ?

The surgeries were Carried out at diff hospitals and I'm now wondering  if I've been forgotten about ?

  • Heya,

What did the secretaries say when you phoned to ask if you were due an appointment?

I have no medical training, everything I post is an opinion or educated guess. It is not medical advice.

Hi Lass, I haven't phoned but will on Monday. It only just clicked with me whilst reading others posts today !  I had a terrible year, lost my 1l yard old German Shepherd to cancer , 12 days after my womb Cancer Surgery. Then when going through radio. My 19 year old cat was killed by a Spaniel. I was so devastated by everything that I was going through, I never even thought about that I didnt get post op check etc. I've assumed I would have got letters or a call.

    Hi

I am so sorry to hear about everything you’ve been through. Two cancers and the devastating loss of two pets. That’s too much to bear.

I would say that you have been forgotten after your hysterectomy! That’s shocking. Get on to the hospital at once.

It is possible that you have been very unlucky to develop two cancers. It is also just possible that there is a genetic link between the two of them known as a brca defect.  This is a mutation that is best known for causing breast and ovarian cancer. Very rarely, it also causes womb cancer. It might well be asking about genetic testing

    Good luck!

  • hi kikib just to say i know what its like to have two cancers at once. i was diagnosed with melanoma in 2015 and womb cancer 9 months later. the latter unfortunately late as symptoms were attributed to stress fron the former. so my diary has been quite full of hospital appointments at 2 different hospitals. i lost my brother to cancer a week after surgery for a recurrence of womb cancer in the summer and my dil has just been diagnosed with stage 3 colon so you are not alone.

Hi Daloni, Thanks for your reply.

I was diagnosed with Womb Cancer and the BC was found 2 weeks later during a CT scan to stage the Womb Cancer.

I remember asking my Breast Oncologist if the Cancers were related and was told No.

He said just bad luck. I know I was tested to see about the brca gene. I didnt have it.

Both my cancers were feeding off my hormones and I'm on Letrozole, hormone blocker.

I'm definitely going to phone the  other hospital tmrw !

Hi Papermoon, Sorry to read you've been through such a lot.

I didnt even know that other cancer relating to the the womb could occur until I read about it. I assumed coz I had a full hysterectomy that was it done and dusted.

I was only at the other hospital for my hysto as they have a better cardiac team ( A leaking heart valve was found 3 years ago ) so it was incase anything went wrong that I was at that hospital. I've never been back there since.

I wish you and yours the best of luck  Hugging
