Hello everyone
I am new to the forum and hoping to find someone with a similar diagnosis at the other end of the journey?
I recently had a uterine polyp removed which had grade 3 cancer. The CT scan was positive ie no obvious problems and all organs look normal. I am having radical hysterectomy next Tuesday and going through the usual wide range of emotions I am sure you’re all familiar with!
So things are progressing quickly which I’m grateful for and I know I will have to wait for the biopsy results, but grade 3 seems so advanced and I was told the cancer is aggressive.
Has anyone out there survived grade 3? The professionals around me are either vague or give me ‘sorry for you’ looks.
any help or advice much appreciated
hi christmas2019 its such a shock isnt it a cancer diagnosis and terms like aggressive dont help. lets just ignore the negative for a moment and concentrate on the positive. cancer found in a polyp alone means its confined inside the polyp which is inside the womb so double plus there. scans show its nowhere else so the removal of both might be all thats needed. i presume its type 1 the common endometrial cancer which has 3 grades which im sure you know. 1 the cancer has more normal than abnormal cells 2 less and 3 less again. yes its faster dividing but as long as it hasn't spread anywhere else wont effect your prognosis. they use that term because its more likely to have spread and mets are harder to treat. but it sounds as if this isn't the case for you so makes the prognosis good. hope that reassures you a bit.
Hi there ! Yes grade 3 stage 2 aggressive cancer of the uterus. Diagnosed August 2018 ! Hysterectomy etc got everything, apart from one little cell that they couldn't rule in or out as cancer. Treatments completed jan this year 3 checkups and all OK with that end of my body ! It's tough but it can be done, try and stay positive don't look too far ahead and ask any questions that come to mind. Take each day as it comes. We will be with you all the way !

Thank you Papermoon
It helps enormously to hear positive comments from ladies who have experienced this cancer. You are the only ones who know exactly how it is.
How are you and what is your story?
OHi Little Critter
thanks for taking the time to reply. How was the hysterectomy and your recovery from that?
this is the next step for me
hi christmas im only to happy to help i well remember the confusion and fear of it all. im no stranger to cancer maybe read my profile if you are interested but at present im well and my last scan in october was reported as no measureable disease. i think little critter is so right when she said best not to look too far ahead but deal with.things as they arise. type 1 (the common one) womb cancer is slow growing and if caught at an early stage which the majority are has an excellent prognosis.
Thanks for that Papermoon your response has helped.
Do you have any experience of beta blockers? My oncology nurse recommended I get some from my GP as I appear to have white coat syndrome and the surgery will be cancelled if my BP remains high (it’s normal at home but shoots up at the hospital).
my GP is against it but gave me Propanolol. I’m still trying to decide whether or not to take it.
any thoughts?
Heya,
I'm on propranolol.
What is it you're worried about with it?

I have no medical training, everything I post is an opinion or educated guess. It is not medical advice.
snap thats me!! in fact when i had my hysterectomy they were very worried about my blood pressure. my gp prescribed propanalol its a very safe drug 40mg up to 3 times a day when required. did your gp say why he was reluctant. its also very good for anxiety.
Hi Lass
my GP was reluctant to give me it as it can lower pulse rate and that might stop the operation. She said her husband is an anaesthetist which is how she knows this. I think I want to take them though and plan to start tomorrow prior to hysterectomy on Tuesday morning.
does this seem enough time for it to work?
Hi Papermoon
the first GP was a locum and said he disagreed with the hospitals advice. The second GP backed him up but I insisted. I even had a letter from the hospital listing my readings. They didn’t agree that I needed the medication because my BP is fine at home and only borderline at the surgery.
but I want to do everything I can to have the hysterectomy so I am going to start taking it tonight
knowing others have used it safely has helped me make up my mind so thanks a lot x
