Hi all
Im 53yrs young and am undergoing tests for all manner of things gynae and stomach related after having a slightly elevated ca-125 result. The doc booked me in for a transvaginal ultrasound under the 2wk rule and an immediate internal at the surgery. During the internal the doc said i had a bulky uterus and a long cervix. I had the transvaginal scan yesterday. They said the ovaries looked clear, that i had a fibroid and that theyre are changes to the womb lining. She said the results will be sent to my g.p who will decide if i need more tests. Will the raised ca-125 and lining changes mean i go for more tests???
Thanks in advance
Hi Ktops,
Sorry you find yourself here. When I first went to my doctor with a bleed he did a blood test which was ca125 test. I believe that test indicates infection, or cancer. When the doctor had the results he said 'Something's going on, but I don't know what'.
I was then referred for a hysteroscopy at the hospital. There they put a tiny camera in to have a good look round. I discovered I had a fibroid, but they dismissed that and said it was 'of little consequence'. The only thing he could see was a lot of fluid, so took a biopsy (bits snipped out of the womb). That revealed I had early stage cancer that was sorted out with a hysterectomy. I was early stage, and if you have womb cancer it sounds as if it is early stage, too. I was 72 at the time.
They don't seem to like thick linings, but mine was normal and I still had cancer!
This waiting around is the worst bit. You will feel better once you know what's going on and what they are going to do about it. All the best xxxx
Hi NannyAnny thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Its the waiting to hear whats next thats driving me nuts. I keep clicking onto my doctors portal to see if theyve heard anything so i know whats next. Like you i think its early if i do have it.
Hope youre doing really well healthwise now. Have a great day xx
