I had my hysterectomy just over a week ago and seem to be healing well. I had a tingly patch of skin - nothing visible - on the front of my right thigh for 48 hours and pin needles in my toes. I have found gentle exercises to stretch the femoral nerve helped.
My chief concern at present is rather more intimate. The right hand, external front of my vaginal feels very tender on top and it also feels sore/chafed in that inner leg crotch space where the vagina meets the thigh. I have a pad of cotton wool over it, held in place by my knicker leg at present but it still chafes badly.Yet there is nothing at all to see, everyything looks fine and I have no swelling or discoloration or bleeding.. It just feels sore as though it is cut or chafed but looks fine.which is why i am wondering if it is a further trapped nerve.
I am going to ask about it at my check up? on Monday.. I suppose it could be linked to a removed lymph node.but seems in the wrong place for that. Anyone had anything similar.?
Hi nightingale,
I think I had a chafed patch. I just put my usual Johnsons baby cream on and it cleared up. I suppose they only have to catch you with an instrument during the operation and that would be enough!!
I also know what nerve endings can do having had shingles in the past. Although I am 2 years post op I still get 'itches ' on my tummy. I had one last weekend while at my daughters, who noticed I scratched. 'Nothing to worry about, it happens often' I assured her.
You are still very early days for everything to have settled down. I was a week before my bladder sorted itself out! xxxx
Hi Nightingale, I wonder if it is a skin reaction to something you were in contact with in hospital? My skin gets irritated by most sticking plasters and lots of soaps etc and I had various itchy patches after hospital which I assumed was due to dressings or maybe something (cleanser? antiseptic?) that gets wiped over the skin in theatre, or maybe even a label on my nightclothes. This year I had another (unrelated) procedure on another bit of me, during which sticky-backed paper was put over the operation site. I think it was there for less than an hour but when it was removed the skin underneath was quite red. I had forgotten to mention the allergy!
