I am frantic!

I have just had my 1st review appt, I got the all clear. This was a week ago, today after going to loo I have blood...just a little, but still blood.

Has anyone ever had this, my operation was in July this year.

Please help!

Nina

  • Hi nina its terrifying isnt it. It happened to me and i went to see my cns and she took a swab to rule out infection. It turned out to be atrophy which is caused by drop in estrogen where the walls of the vagina become thin and bleed easily. I was given some lubricating gel which stopped it. Did you have an internal at your checkup if so its probably nothing to worry about and easily remedied.

  • Hi Nina,

I had the same thing after one of my check ups, the doctor scratched me with the speculum. Give your team a call to put your mind at ease though, I've had a few very small bleeds, they always panic me but they have all been checked and were ok.

    lots of love

    Hi Nina,

I have been having spotting by way of occasional red  blood on tissue for some time since after radiotherapy, and a slight discharge. My op was in April, followed by 25 sessions of external radiotherapy,  and 6 rounds of chemo. Have told my oncologist, even got him to do an examination to check when I went for my after treatment scan at the end of October,  which was clear.

He was unconcerned,  says its the effects of the radiotherapy making the lining more fragile,  just let the GP know if I develop any sign of infection.

So, your bit of blood sounds like it's in the range of normal after effects. X

    Hi Nina,

Me again. As I also have this, I went on Dr Google.

I had not heard of it before, but it seems about 34% of women have granulation ( like a sort of raw area)  in the vaginal vault after a hysterectomy,  around the internal stitches , which causes bleeding.

So it might be that for both of us. It seems it sometimes goes on it's own, or sometimes by treatment,  such as a cream or cauterisation.

I will ask my GP , or at my next follow up if it hasn't gone by then.

Glad you raised this. Hope it resolves soon x

    Hi

I hope you get a good answer, sometimes you try to rationalise, but really you are freaking out inside. I hope to hear from the team soon, and I will post an update, x

  • They found granulation at my first checkup i had no symptoms whatsoever. It would have been spotted on examination.

  • Hi Nina the ladies here have given good advice.  Don't panic, before I was diagnosed with my recurrence I began having a discharge and then a bleed.Ring up your CNS and if you are not comfortable with the feedback (I wasn't) request to see your consultant.  Also when I had my first check after hysterectomy I bled after the internal examination.  Take care xx Dawn

    Hi

I called my CNS and she arranged for me to be seen at the Emergency Gynae service at my local hospital. I was seen by one of the junior doctors, who was very good, she took my bloods and did an internal exam. She said she could not see any areas of bleeding, it could be infection. A swab was taken and bloods sent, I am now on antibiotics, but still gettting small episodes of bleeding. I am going to wait untill antibiotics have finished, if it is still there I need to get back in touch. What worries me is what can truly be seen with the naked eye?

If this is anything which cannot be seen just now, it is having the chance to rumble on and that really worries me.

    Nina x
