I has been exactly 5 weeks today since biopsies, 4 weeks today since MRI. I was told whilst in hospital my biopsy results should be back 3-4 weeks. MRI 2 weeks. I haven't heard anything so I called the consultant's secretary last Friday and she said "oh results are in, I will pop message on her desk you're chasing". This is literally making me ill now - I cannot concentrate on my job, I either binge eat or eat nothing at all - my head is just a mass of fog. I phoned my GP yesterday to see if they knew or could give any advice and they just told me to phone the hospital again. I do this but just get through to answer machines, I leave messages and nothing happens. Realistically how much longer will I have to wait? I am Lincolnshire based.
Sorry for ranting :-( x
Hi BB,
There isn't a typical amount of time, it depends by area and by individual and by area waiting lists. I had my biopsy results within two weeks but was told to expect to wait up to six weeks for results. My MRI scan results were about two weeks too but they fast tracked them as my surgery date was set. I recently had a routine MRI scan and my results took about five or six weeks.
Have you got another number for the hospital that you could try? Or can you ask PALS?
I know how anxious waiting on results can be, keeping as busy and distracted as you can really helps.
lots of love

Hello That sounds like a very long wait. I was told up to 6 weeks for my biopsy results but i was phoned and given an appointment to go in and see the consultant at about 3 weeks. My MRI and CT scans came through quite quickly within the next 3 weeks or so, with my surgery being just under a month after finding out I had cancer.
Waiting is incredibly hard and I'm so sorry to readvits making you feel so ill and affecting how you eat or don't eat. Like Arla I can only suggest you keep phoning them. If there's no info next week, explain to your GP how I'll it's making you and get him/her to chase it.
Sending a gentle hug and lots of good wishes your way x
Hi BB1972,
I was told 3-4 weeks for the biopsy result, but got called in earlier, more like 2 weeks, and mine was a grade 3 that needed dealing quickly, hence the earlier result appointment. So, hopefully your results being in without them calling you in, is a good sign.
I still agree you should chase though, because you need to know for your own wellbeing. The waiting is the worst part, but I hope you will be getting good news.
Sending hugs x
