Hello dear Ladies.
I had a total hysterectomy on the 12 September. 2 weeks ago.I had excellent help and advice from this site thank you so much.
I was in for 5 days, I know I have to have more treatment. ,I will see the gynaecologist team soon then I will know what treatment I will need.
Everybody in the hospital were so kind and lovely to me.They helped me after my total hysterectomy.Giving me morphine, paracetamol and another drug that was very powerful that needed 2 nurses present when I took it. I slept a lot. When I was in pain they gave me drugs.I managed to walk out to the toilet with help from the nurse, On the third day I could slowly walk there myself. I was amazed how I coped but decided I wasn't going to have a comode next to the bed..
I stayed with my daughter when I was discharged for a week, I am home in my little flat now, I just do very small jobs just to keep myself moving. I have always loved cooking but now until I get stronger my daughter has got me lovely small ready meals from M&S they are very tasty.with good quality ingredients.
I am on about 6 paracetamols a day now. My wound is healing well.I feel very tired but okay. I am a bit shaky so not well enough to go outside my flat on my own. I'm getting there.
My daughter will sleep here tonight she has been such a support to me.
Thank you ! and love to you all.

Good to know you are home now and received excellent care from the hospital . Don't do too much, just potter to keep moving and listen to your body and rest or lay flat when you need to. Your wounds are still young and while you may feel ready to tackle anything in a couple of weeks remember it takes a good twelve months or so to heal inside. So don't feel guilty about having sofa days ! So glad everything went well for you and we are all here to support you when and if you need further treatment. Big hugs coming your way. God bless love lamb.xx
Thank you lamb, for your message. I know if I have any worries or questions I can always come to this site. Adeliene x
Great to see your home Adeliene, great also you have good support and I hope you enjoy your meals you have. Lots of rest its surprising how tried I was after my op except I got carried away on good days I swear it was the meds! But most important do things slowly and no bending, stretching or lifting anything heavy and hopefully you will not make my mistake and ended up snapping an internal stitch trying to reach for a kettle of all things.
Sending you gentle hugs

Hello Adeliene Good to hear you’re home. I hope you soon regain your confidence and that you can start to get out and have some gentle walks. Sometimes it’s all a bit daunting at first after major surgery. Try not to compare your recovery rate to anyone else - we are all different and we all recover slightly differently. Listen to your body, rest when you need to and joe kind to yourself. Your daughter sounds lovely- I’m sure she’s a fabulous support to you. Sending you lots of good wishes. Take care and keep in touch x
Hello gBear,
Thanks for your reply, I am so pleased you have spoken about stretching and bending, I am short just a little under 5 feet, I will have to get my daughter to move some of my dishes and plates down from the normal height cupboard as I have to stretch just to much to get them. I couldn't stand the pain of snapping internal stitches. I will be so careful.from now on..
.Great advice you have given me

Hello Fairycake, Yes I have lost my confidence I am nervous of putting my recycling and rubbish out.,My legs start to shake, I know my very nice neighbours will help me with my rubbish until I pluck up courage to manage to do this myself..
Thank you for your lovely post. Adeliene x
Hello dear Aria,
I have been pampered. My daughter works really hard, when she phoned me early this evening she was going to come over to sleep. I told her I was managing and to please go home to her husband and look after him. He is great and does a lot for me, he picked me up from hospital. They are there for me if ever I phone them.
Thank you for your kind message.

Hi Adeliene, I just noticed your comment about stretching and being short. I am also on the little side - 5 ft 2 on a good day. I got 2 little plastic steps (from Asda online, click and collect). I left one in the kitchen so I could push it along with my foot and step on it to reach the upper cupboards without stretching, and I put the other one by the fitted wardrobes so I could reach things out of there. I also found that lifting heavy coats out of the wardrobe was an effort, so I kept a coat out in the hallway for the first few weeks rather than lifting it in and out of the wardrobe. Getting your daughter to move the plates to a handy level sounds a great idea. Also try to keep heavy things like cartons of milk on a handy shelf in the fridge. Lovely to read that you are through the operation and doing so well.
Hi Adeliene,
I am also only 5 feet 2 inches, and have never been able to reach the top shelves of my kitchen cupboards. I bought an Addis step, which is strong and sturdy, and is just the job!!! Take it easy. xxxxx
