Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me what to expect at first 3 monthly check up after surgery and brachytherapy for Grade 1b endometrial cancer?
Will there be scans, blood tests etc. as well as a internal examination? I'm starting to get a bit twitchy!
My first check up was internal and external exams and questions. Because I had LVSI I have CA125 blood tests and a chest x-ray every 6 months, so at every other check up. Although I have now been moved to 6 monthly checks as I am almost 2 years since treatment ended.
Hope all goes well for yours.
Hugs, Lesley xx
Hi Jagger46 I was a higher grade and stage so I had a post radiotherapy ct scan before my first 3monthly check. All my checks take the same format - discussion with consultant or member of the team, internal and external exam and then chance to ask any questions. I had a single lymphnode affected and was told I’d only have a scan and/or bloods if I’d got any symptoms suggesting recurrence or had any symptoms which couldn’t be explained. I’m now on 6 monthly checks because I’m 21/2 yrs on from treatment finishing., Hope all goes well.
Thanks so much, Lesley. I'm so pleased that you're doing so well.
Take care xxx
I was 1B too and had surgery and brachytherapy. I was discharged from my cancer hospital back to my local hospital on Jan 3 this year and didn't have my first check up till Jun 16(supposed to be every 4 months but had a backlog). It was a chat and an internal and lasted 10mins. My next appointment is Oct 16.
I had my first 3 monthly check up only last week and it was fine.
I’d been booked to have a CT scan a few weeks before for reference purposes because I hadn’t had one since before radiotherapy so they needed one as a base for my records.
The actual checkup was fine. Quick chat, quick internal exam and that was it with the doc. My CNS was with me the whole time and spent time with me after to help with my concerns.
I was rather worried and believe I probably will be worried again in December just before my next check, but I’m sure that’ll get easier over time.
I hope things go just as smoothly for you too.
:)
