Bacteria in Urine

Hi Sparkle1,

I take it the sample has shown what antibiotics your infection is sensitive to? so your on the correct one. With urine infections it’s so important to drink so drink plenty of water. Cranberry juice can help too! I would definitely mention it to your doctor when speak to him he might suggest something different from the GP. Do you have any Surgical wounds or new areas of VIN at the moment?

Ive has 2 courses of anti-biotics then GP sent the sample off but due to Covid19 the hospital will only say its Bacteria,  they cannot Cultivate n grow during Covid-19!

My Professor is due to call me Monday I think I might ask him as the VIN3 is back again for 4th time now coukd there be a connection with vin3 & bacteria infections?    GP now given me a 3rd course of antibiotics then if im still the same they will send off a other sample,  but tbf what is the point if they are not going to find out what will cure this bacteria ?  I understand the restrictions due to Covid.   

Think it is best to mention it to Professor on my Phone Consultation Monday

definitely mention it to your professor on Monday. Are you living in London? I hope you don’t mind me asking but what treatments have you had? Have you tried the Aldara cream? When was you diagnosed with the first episode of VIN? I really would like to know more about your journey.

Hi Jane,

I live in the West Midlands, I first noticed these Cells just over 3 years ago how long they have been there I don't know the biopsy showed VIN3.  I had 2 Wide Local Incisions done by a Vulva Consultant but she said she had never seen anything so aggressive in the fact 10 days later all was back as pre surgery.  Yes I tried the Aldara but I couldn’t tolerate it, so 2019 she transferred me to a Professor on Oncology he did a Extra Wide Incision & that was very painful but I was kept in hospital for that procedure as he warned me it would be extremely painful.    Within a month I started seeing the white cells, Professor is now my Consultant & he is amazing.  He told me straight this will never go away I am due for my telephone consultation Monday but this Bacteria Infection I am constantly passing Urine as soon as I drink I need the toilet within 5 mins its crazy.  Starting my 3rd course of antibiotics.  I am definitely going to mention this to him.  They given me Tubes of Numbing Cream to keep at home.  I‘m 51yrs Old

Hi Paula, 

it sounds like you’ve been through so much. Do they have any idea why yours is so aggressive? I was only diagnosed in March and had a wide local excision of the perineum. I had positive  margins so I was on the Aldara but went for another check up and they found more areas so I’m now waiting for the results of those biopsies and taking a break from the cream. The cream isn’t pleasant! I’m 44 the thought of living with this is awful. I’m trying to learn more about it. I just can’t believe the Aldara cream and surgery are the options we have. There must be more treatment just needs to be more research.  I would like to know if there are trials out there. Have you had the HPV vaccine? I’ve heard it can reduce the risk of recurrence so  I’m going to try and get it from my GP.

No I havnt had to vaccine,  my area is on the Vulva but slowly working its way in.   Always afraid that what is it goes inside the Vagina ?   Yes all they seem to do is more surgery & hack away at your body Is this the answer ??
Of course we cant get to see our Consultants atm.  Will let you know what he says tomorrow

Professor said there is No Link between UTI & VIN he said the bladder is totally separate,  what he was alarmed at was my Liver Enzymes being so high.   Ive been told only 2 Weeks ago I have Fatty Liver yet ive lost 5 & half Stone!   So 2018 my Levels were 100 and now their 240.  My Urine is always Dark now so im going to see this week how I get on,  I have been refraining from drinking any  liquids because of constantly needing the toilet.Ive lost all my weight in past Year, GP wants to re-peat the Test in 4 Weeks so about 1st Week in August
