It's been a week since the vulva biopsy and although the hole is still open I felt things were going well. Swelling and pain gone and applying fucidin religiously. This morning I woke up to find part of the internal wound protruding out like a long skin tag! It's attached internally and like old dead flesh. Sorry this is a bit unpleasant but I'm shocked as everything was going well & I really wasn't expecting this. Has anyone had this or know what's happening?
Hi Roma
Sorry I can't offer any advice as this isn't something I know about. I would think the best thing to do is give your team at the hospital a ring or contact your GP so they can take a look for you. You could always call the helpline here too and have a word with one of the nurses. The number is 0800 808 808 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm.Â
Please let us know how you get on.
Take care
Best wishes

Hello Sue,
Thank you for your quick reply. I contacted my consultant and luckily she could see me today. She was a bit perplexed but she thinks it is silver nitrate remains she used during the biopsy. I think it had destroyed some of the skin in/around the wound. She wasn't concerned and said apart from that, things were healing well.Â
Thanks againÂ
Great to hear you saw your consultant and all was well. Take care.

Hi I know this was several years ago but I have exactly the same issue you described. Biopsy was 3 days ago (Thurs) and have almost a skin tag like ‘thing’ from the wound. First thought were discharge but MY WORD it killed when I tried to very very gently remove so it is 100% attached. Did your GP remove it or did it come away naturally? As you can imagine I’m very anxious to have found this this morning! TY xx
Hi,
I went back to my consultant who sorted it painlessly & didn’t seem concerned. She thought it was silver nitrate remains used during the biopsy. Things have healed very well since. Xx
Thanks for your reply . I too had silver nitrate. The wound is still quite new so will see how it goes but this loose bit of skin / skin tag as you described is annoying as I sometimes catch it and it tugs causing eye watering pain!!
