Likelihood of recurrence?

Hi guys, just wandering about the chances/likelihood of recurrence of retroperitoneal liposarcarma at the same or other site? Looking for statistics, percentages etc. I have had a very large tumour removed and wondering what the future might hold. Don't want to scare myself but feeling the need to get as much info as possible, so I can ask my surgeon the right questions at my follow up consultation. Thank you.

  • Hi

I'm not a member of this group so can't answer your questions but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered.

I've found this information for you about soft tissue sarcomas on this site and Cancer Research UK has this information about liposarcoma, including statistics, which you might find helpful.

There is also this page on questions to ask your doctor. They probably won't all apply to you but it may give you a starting point.

I'm also tagging this group's Community Champion into my reply to you as he may have some personal experience that will help you further.

HI there, I haven't updated for a few years but I am still here fighting..... I am due to be admitted on Monday to Broadgreen, Liverpool Heart & Chest hospital for my 8th thorocothomy ... I have now been fighting this cancer for 11 years..... I have had surgery, chemo, RFA treatment, scepsis and depression as well as good days.... i have had picc lines... scans.. blood tests and the support of an excellent oncologist, surgeon, special nurse... my latest is that the tumour has returned to my foot... the original site.... because I was given radiotheraphy over 30 years ago the skin is so damaged they are going to have to amputate the foot as the skin would not heal if they tried operating.... so that is lined up at the minute for the end of November.......... sometimes I do think I want to give up then I look at and spent time with my family and grandchildren and I rethink .... I have to keep going.. but it's hard some day s.... but to anyone reading this ...KEEP FIGHTING FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN ...
