Hi my mum is 76 and has ovarian cancer and it is inoperable with no chance of any further chemo. She has been so angry and is particularly nasty towards me. I am really struggling with this. Has anyone else experienced this and how did you cope?

  • Hi and welcome to the online community at what sounds like a very difficult time for you.

I haven't had the same experience as you're going through but I noticed your post hadn't had any replies yet.

It's natural to feel angry when you have cancer but it's not nice that your mum is taking this anger out on you. There is support that your mum could access to help her cope with her emotions and clicking here will take you to more information about this. Do you think this is something that your mum might be willing to look into?

You might like to join the family and friends group which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries with others who have a family or friend who is dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

If you'd like to join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
