Hi I'm new here so sorry if I'm posting on the wrong group.

I wonder if any of you are being treated at The Christie hospital in Manchester and if so have you had Professor Bloor as your consultant? What is he like? Not only in his experience but his bedside manner? My previous consultant was in Stoke and he was very emotion-less and made me feel a bit like I was just 'another' body to treat. He was a competent doctor but I think havin ga good bedside manner can make such a difference. I'd love to hear your experiences?

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community.

As you have posted in this HL group we have to assume that you are being investigated or treated for HL.

There are a number of folks on this group and other blood cancer groups who have been treated at The Christie. The Christie is a leading place in blood cancer treatment so you are in safe hands.

Dr Bloor..... (a great name for a Haematologist.... I do wonder if it was a typo) from what I have seen he and the rest of team at The Christie are at the top of their game so you are in very safe hands and I have seen great reports about Dr Bloor..... but you often don’t hear about the bad ones Smirk

Over my 21 years being treated for my rare NHL I truly have experienced ALL types of consultants and I got on with them or not...... but the most important thing is results.

The worst consultant I had was obnoxious, uncaring, dreadful bedside manner........ but he was the one that saved my life.

    All the best.

Thank you. Yes, true, results and competence are what really matters. From what I've read online about Dr Bloor he certainly seems to fit that, I was just wondering more about his approach and manner from people. Thank you for your reassurance.

  • Hi !!

I am a Christie patient and have met Prof Bloor . He’s great , only young and very reassuring . He is pretty straight forward and will answer any questions you may have so don’t be afraid to ask . There are several nurses there too who will answer any questions you may think of later .

good Luck , probably see you in Dept26 !!

    lisa :)

  • Adrian Bloor is amazing, really on top of his game. You’re in very good hands there! He’s a transplant specialist though, are you going for a stem cell transplant?
