My husband was diagnosed yesterday with nodular lymphocyte-predominant hodgkin's lymphoma after 4 months of appointments and tests. This has been the longest 4 months of our lives I think. He is being admitted to hospital tonight for his first round of chemo, RCHOP. We've been told 6 rounds, only first as inpatient and a scan in the middle to check progress. He's well in himself and positive, just wants to get treated so we can get back to living normally.
We have 3 girls, an 8 year old and 5 year old twins. They have taken the news quite well but our eldest is a bit worried which I think is quite normal.
I guess I'm just posting to introduce myself. I've read all the info available but if anyone has any experience, advice, wisdom to bestow upon me to aid my situation or help prepare my kids for what's to come it would be greatly welcomed.
Hi ,
Welcome to a place nobody wants to visit!
your hubs’ Lymphoma is being treated with a tried and tested regime (though more often used for non Hodgkin’s lymphoma) and usually works very well in this type of HL. I’m glad he is positive, and hope all goes very well.
about your children; they will all realise that something is different, so to let them know gently that ‘Daddy has a very odd sickness that strong medicines will help to sort out to make him well again’ should hopefully help. I think there are books that can help too. Lymphoma Action could help here; try phoning them on 0808 808 5555 and explain, I’m sure there’s a way they can help. Children adapt quickly and usually pretty easily once they are included and explained to.
Sending you a big hug, a cancer diagnosis hurts all the family so do feel free to post again!
Hugs xxx

Hi and a second welcome.
R-CHOP is indeed used extensively for NHL and provides great results.
Hi SammyAnne,
I unfortunately cannot offer any words of wisdom at this point but do sympathise with the long wait for diagnosis. We are about 2 months in to our journey and have been told that my husband has Hodgkins lymphoma, but we have yet to know which type. He had his 4th biopsy this week so waiting on these results now. The delay for treatment is terrifying. We have 1 grown up child and 2 teenagers so the situation is a bit different. Just thought I'd leave a message to introduce myself. I do not know anyone else who has dealt with this particular type of cancer. Good luck with it all, here if you'd like to chat to someone in a similar position.

Hi Bec and a welcome to you. The time it takes fir a clear diagnosis can indeed be long but it is very important to get this spot on as it’s the only way to find the very best treatment required.
Hang in there Bec. I know the waiting is absolutely horrendous. Or the worst thing for us while waiting was people trying to tell us "no news was good news", drove me nuts. They made it very clear early on they believed it to be lymphoma but struggled to get viable samples. So every I heard that, albeit good intentions I had to ignore it or explain no not accurate in our case, were just waiting to find out what type and how to treat. Be sure to come here if you need to chat, vent, ask questions. Loads of support here.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
