It’s been a week since I was given the frightening news that I have a nasopharyngeal tumour. I joined this group the day after, trying to get information. I have had some really nice and helpful replies to my original post. Some of you are still receiving treatment and some of you have come out at the other end. I have not had a diagnosis yet but I am booked in for my biopsy on Monday. Still waiting for MRI appointment. It’s been a week of ups and downs. At times I’ve cried, I couldn’t sleep and have lost my appetite as I feel nauseous all of the time so losing weight. GP has given me some sleeping tablets so at least I’m getting some sleep now. Scared of what results will be but I do know that you’re all out there sharing and giving advice. Thank you x

  • Hi Rafferty

Waiting is awful and it's pointless me suggesting you try not to worry but all you can do is place yourself in the hands of a very experienced team and try to keep yourself busy. Try to understand that although this is all new to you, your team does this all the time.

Once you have a treatment plan and things start to fall into place it's easier to cope.

Its eminently treatable and curable, this disease. The treatment's no walk in the park but do able.

I'm 13 months out and you wouldn't think there was anything wrong with me....yes a few minor niggles but the past is behind me, the pain forgotten and looking forward.

    You'll get there.

Face each problem as it arises. Lots of help here when you need it.
