Just a short note to all of you on the first steps of the journey.
Base of tongue cancer treated with six weeks of radiotherapy which finished this day last year. So here I am still. I’m able to eat anything apart from a hot curry, my saliva is coming along nicely and thanks to a Fitbit for Christmas I’m finally forced into a monitored fitness regime.
The pain and black days are forgotten
Roll on spring and the future
Take heart. This thing is beatable and the sun shines again.
So nice to hear this Beesuit. Well done for coming out the other side, you are an inspiration.
Husband has appointment next Tuesday for biopsy results following post radio PET. Hoping for a good outcome like yours!

where does time fly to ! Like you say it’s good for Newman people to know that there is light at end of the tunnel and yes the dark days do disappear,no more 0300 wake ups to do feeding tubes, mouth care medications and then go do it all again 3 hours later. Impressed re fit bit will soon have you join me in my bikes rides ! We are living proof that there is life after cancer .
onwards and upwards my friend.

ps am having defiantly more good saliva days now than bad ones! Would say 90% normal saliva so something to look forward to.

Hi yes not too bad after biopsy but now has oral thrush! Maybe because his saliva is so limited. Anyway on Nystatin so hopefully it will be gone soon.

He really has my deepest sympathy with iralmtheush I was plagued on and off for 6 month s or so with it became immune to Nystatin so then it was flucozonle tablets .In the end en t guy took me off everything and itmcleared on its own but yes it’s the perennial lack of saliva that causes it .
Good luck H x

Good evening Beesuit, great to read this uplifting post, I love the Fitbit part . That year has flown by gradually leaving the bad bits behind you and looking forward to even better days ahead, I'm sure. Before you know it you will be a has-been like me, 12 years on November 5th, I remember it well. As you say roll on the spring as I enjoy a bit of gardening, wishing you continued success Beesuit, best wishes.
