Three years ago my life was turned upside down with neck cancer diagnosis
A year of dispair followed - radiation, chemo, neck dissection and Feeding via PEG
Gradually however it got better, the PEG was removed after a year, after 18 months I could eat very soft food and now three years on I can eat most things, albeit slowly with a lot of chewing
Also over the last year I have travel solo to Everest Base Camp, travelled from London to Beijing overland on the Trans Siberian Express and regularly fly back and forth to the Middle East.
My message is don’t give up - No matter how bad it might feel at the moment, coughing up flem, squeezing liquid into yourself through a tube, gasping through lack of saliva, it can get better.
Thanks to everyone on here who gave me support at my worst moments
After over a year away from this site I think it’s time I posted this to give hope to others
Dave
Good evening Dave, many thanks for the update, I'm sure your words of encouragement will help both people who have just been diagnosed and those coming towards the end the journey. You have packed a lot of adventure in over the last three years, well done and all the best for the future, enjoy
Chris
