Hi
I have been recovering from chemo and radiotherapy for sinus cancer. Had another follow up appointment on 04 August where I was told my scans had been requested I also was diagnosed with oral thrush at this appointment which shocked me as I had no idea I had this. On Nystan to get rid of this, was told it is normal to see this in head and neck patients considering where radiotherapy hits.
Today I received an appointment for a CT neck scan with contrast for 20 August. Didn’t think I was nervous about this at all until I received it today. I think I am more nervous on what they will find, trying not to worry about this as I know this is out of my control. I have to look at the positives as since having treatment I haven’t been getting the chronic headaches I was getting last year up until I started treatment. Just waiting on the appointment for the scan on the head and sinuses.
When I had a scan after my second round of chemo before I started radiotherapy it showed the tumour had shrunk so I know there is hope. My mind is working overtime about all possibilities and whether I will need further treatment.

I hope you get good news. My fingers are crossed for you. I know it’s hard to feel positive when you still have the same pain as before. Hope it is just the side effects from treatment. Will be thinking of you on Wednesday. Xx

Hi everybody with oral candidiasis. Nystatin doesnt work on irradiated mucous membranes. GPs need to know this. Fluconazole is the drug of choice and sometimes needs to be given for two weeks.

Hi Tanya. Waiting for results is a horrible way to pass your time and something we never get good at despite lots of practice. You have the right attitude that it’s out of your control but it doesn’t stop the heart thumping moments when you’ve briefly forgotten only for a reminder to suddenly poke you in the eye. Keeping my fingers crossed that all is well.
