Has the 2 year delay allowed the cancer to metastasise? I’m trying not to panic.

  • At this point in time I am fighting the thoughts that the long delay has allowed the cancer to spread to my lungs and am struggling with coming to terms with it.

It's a possibility but not that likely

I've just read your other post asking about immunotherapy. Can you get a PET scan to see what those chest nodules are? I have two and as was suggested to you they are the result of a previous infection. Mine were 7 and 9mm and at that size I was told the chance of malignancy were slim. I was re scanned (CT and PET/CT later after treatment) and they remained the same size and inactive

  • Thank you.

    That sounds positive.

They didn’t say what size they were and I never thought to ask as they hit you with these things and you are so stunned and, in my case my mind goes blank for a while. They said it might be from pollution. They said they will scan me again in three months which will, of course, be after my treatment.

So it's three months to wait for that then. Disappointed

Yes a real bummer but honestly they are really common in old folk.

  • I have a lymph node in my lung as well. it showed up on CT scan, and then later on pre-treatment PET.  I think it was about 12mm.  The feeling was that it was related to a previous infection and wasn't related to my cancer.
