Backstory:

Husband had tonsil cancer, diagnosed 31st October 2023 - treatment started beginning January 2024 - 30 rads and 6 chemos - finished on 14th February 2024.

Got the all clear in Summer.

Before this and even up until now, he suffers with ulcers at the back of the throat, and although we know this is normal, consultant told us this, I am trying to think of things that would help.  I keep seeing this word Healious not sure of the spelling is correct?

Has anyone tried this and is it effective?

Thank you in advance and bless you all on your journeys x

  • Hi, Healios is really popular in the USA. You can get it here but it's expensive. Hopefully somebody living in The States will pop on.

How often is your husband getting these ulcers? Have you considered keeping a food diary to see if there is a connection?

  • A very annoying side effect that can unfortunately last for a year+ after the treatment finishes, I used a Difflam spray to target specific areas, a small spray bottle was prescribed(generic version) which can be opened and filled from the large bottle ... made up to the strength of choice... around 3 years since I finished CRT treatment and I still use Difflam occasionally.

To add to Micky… Difflam is good at pain relief. I used to gargle with chlorhexedine which sorted ulcers out in a couple of days. If your husband can tolerate that it might help?
