I’ve just had some discouraging news. Due to breathlessness post-IMRT following surgery for tonsil cancer I undertook a chest CT scan. Results indicate nodules on my lungs. Waiting for MDT to review, and then likely PET-CT to get more information. Anyone else been through this?
I had two nodules in my lungs on my first chest CT before radio. They were re scanned three months later. 25% of adult population have them. I hope yours are harmless so good luck. Do you know what they looked like on CT? Did your doc tell you? I guess they are doing a PET/CT because they don’t want to hang around three months.
I really hope that breathlessness is something else.

Thanks. The radiographer said there were ‘multiple’ but I’ve not seen the scans or report. The team is obtaining my pre-surgery scans to see if these were there before or have appeared since. The logic is that had they been there before the initial scan would have been flagged. The ENT surgeon said my chest was clear at the time. So it suggests ‘multiple, modules have appeared more recently. I’m kind of sanguine however it goes.
Just hoping I can hold out to see my daughter graduate.
Stay strong you are a cyclist you can do this ! We are made of strong stuff .

I’m so sorry to read this.
I have absolutely everything crossed for you.
Have you thought anymore about taking that early retirement?
I’ll be thinking about you often so please keep us all posted.

Thanks guys. I’ll have to figure things out when scans are done. Median mortality is about 2 years, then I have to think about death in service benefit if I stay working, but maybe take sick leave and then use an income replacement policy I’ve had since I was 40. Versus early retirement in health grounds. Lots to think about.
Another one with fingers and toes crossed.
I hope your team can find you something to keep you ticking over for years to come. There have been some remarkable stories here with people surviving years on immunotherapy.
