Good morning friends

Well got to meet onc. And nurse, stage 2 pharyngeal into lymph nodes ,no chemo just radio therapy. Laid it on the lines "it will be sore, you will need a tube. But curable. Let's have a wee visit to dental depot. Put it this way will change my name from manup1 to gummy1. Want to remove 8 teeth. Maybe keep my implants .

  • So not the worse answer you could have been given; in fact its all quite positive.  It's going to be tough but you'll get through it and be enjoying life once recovered.

    I love the spirit Gummy1!

No point beating round the bush treatment pretty brutal but if I can do it anyone can and I am a wimp ! Best bit of advise I can give us eat as  much  as you can between now and treatment starting ok with teeth being pulled might have to be lots if cream n ice cream. Cream in soup the make it richer is s good tip

  • Hi

I was horrified when they told me I needed to have 7 poss 8 teeth out at pre treatment Maxi appt. Prepared myself for that but, in the end only had back 4 out (wisdom teeth really) on the actual extraction day. So perhaps worth a check when you go, in the hope they have scaled the amount for extraction down without compromising anything.

    hi tricia

  • Well Paul, you may surprise yourself at the food you'll be happy to eat while undergoing treatment and during  recovery.  I know I did!

  • I can tell you these hospital dentists are brilliant at their job.
I had to have a wisdom tooth out AFTER RT, which I was really pissed about ( osteoradionecrosis and all that)

I expected all sorts of twisting and grinding with nurses holding me down but no! A few lifts with a periostome and it just popped out. Never felt a thing! AND it’s healed excellently.
Nobody will notice you have teeth missing with your Corona Virus mask on, anyway.
    Keep Smiling.
