Evening all,
Well Harry had his RIG fitted Monday. No major problems really other than they struggled with NG tube initially took 3 doctors and some anaesthetic spray but got there in the end. Procedure was very fast and he was back on the ward within an hour. Given some IV paracetamol for pain - he then ripped cannula out closely followed by stitches that hold RIG in place !! You couldn't make it up !! Kept in overnight and no real pain only slight discomfort . Meeting specialist RIG nurse?? Tomorrow for care of RIG etc , that's after radio in morning.
Chemo/ radio 1st day today. . Came away with quite a few potions pills etc. Pharmacist came and spoke to Harry at length about meds and swapping if it doesn't suit etc. Back for another 4 radio then 5 more weeks of the same.
I am going to 're read all the blogs, as even though I read initially when Harry first diagnosed they are SO more relevant now and full of hintstips and like this group full of lots of support

Ask away here as problems come up.
Don’t forget, you see your radiographers every day and they are your first port of call for problems.
No need to suffer pain so don’t be frightened of upping the analgesia. if your husband is comfortable his nutrition will be better and his recovery swifter.
I’m only 5 ft 3 and weigh 50 kilos and I was told to get 3000 calories down me a day.
Keep well
