I was diagnosed 28th April with non operable cancer and was offered palliative chemotherapy which I started with cisplatin and then ended up reactivate to the the drug so then changed to carboplatin which I started my third cycle but it has shown growth of tumor this week after another stay in hospital.

I am waiting for a new plan from oncology. But the reason I went to hospital this week is I have been getting really bad back ache so much that I can't sleep at night and it's just impossible to get comfortable. I have to either dose myself up pain killers or just wait till I collapse.

Pain killers don't always do it and I am losing my mind over the lack of sleep and ability to deal with this.

I don't understand the pain as neither do the doctors. It. Can move round my back and is just impossible to get in a decent position.

Since finding out about my cancer I haven't been able to sleep on my side or front and have to sit up. I now can't even do that.

Losing my mind and wishing for a good night at least once

  • Hi and welcome to the club everyone wishes they didn't have to join. My husband is going through the back pain now, but codeine does let him sleep. It might be a good idea to call the nurse on the helpline on 0808 808 0000, it helps sometimes to talk to another expert who could come up with a suggestion that would help.
