I'm halfway through chemo for primary breast cancer and I had a follow up CT scan yesterday to check on lung nodules which showed on the first scan. The nodules haven't changed however there's cancer in my spine and left hip. This didn't show up on my bone scan in June so obviously has spread during chemo. My treatment will be changing immediately, I'll find out on Wednesday. Absolutely devastated and can't think straight.
Hi Jools-50 This cancer roller coaster is a nightmare,I also have cancer in my spine and a lot more bone.I am also concerned my cancer might have spread whilst on chemo. i have had stomach pains for a month now and had several scans, i am going for bowel and colon in the next couple of weeks so i am very anxious,How did your appointment go on Wednesday? hope it went well for you and i know what you mean its difficult to think straight at times like this
Hi there wino, well my oncologist appointment on Wednesday was neither overly positive nor overly negative. Just basically take the meds (letrozole, palbo, bone injections) and wait and see. She told me that sometimes chemo can cause the spread in some areas! Great news, not. I hope your stomach pains are unrelated to the cancer, fingers crossed for your scan results xx
Hi Jools-50 I have got an appointment next Monday 12th to see a colon and bowel consultant. I have had to send in a stool sample and he should have the results of the tests by that date. I am anxious enough with out having to think he will probably be telling me the bad news its spread, as you know that,s how we as cancer sufferers think, every scan, appointment, is always going to be bad news.I am on letrozole, palbo, but not the bone injections i take that in tablet form, because i was diagnosed one week before lock down and he didn,t want me going into hospital for injection.I was surprised what info your oncologist gave you but with this covid hanging over our heads i dont think the cancer departments are up and running anywhere near as well as they were before covid.Anyway wishing you all the best keep well and safe xx
I absolutely know what you mean about scans and bad news, I'm yet to receive any good news from an appointment, it's just been worse news at every turn. But I'm holding onto hope for your scan and results, even for the fact where you are having pain would be an unusual place for BC to spread? My lungs are still being monitored, but until they tell me it's cancer I have to believe it isn't, we need to hold onto positivity xx
Hi Jools-50 nice to hear from you, really pleased your treatment is going well. Yes i had my MRI scan results last week, I have been on the same cocktails of meds as you now for 4 months i have just started round 5.He said i am stable so good news nothing else has popped up or the tumors have not grown which is amazing but there is a small part of me that wanted to hear there is a little healing. Still lets hope stable continues its better than the other thing we don,t mention haha. I hope you carry on feeling well with your meds thankfully like you i am well on them for the moment only a small amount of hair loss.Keep well and safe xx
Hi Wino I'm delighted to hear your stable results! From posts I've read from other ladies on here and other forums, healing can occur further down the line. Hopefully I'll be posting some positive news after my first scan. I'm still completely bald, diagnosed with secondaries during my treatment for primary. Hoping for some hair growth as I've none to lose lol xx
