Hi there,

I'm new to this so hello. I felt I had to connect with others on this journey because I was struggling. I finished Zokadex a month ago and palbociclib as my Cancer has finally died thank goodness.  But emotionally after the initial elation I feel anger, irritable and very tearful. Some days are better than others. Like many, I lost everything on this journey so I'm having to rebuild a life too. I'm normally resourceful but I just cant move past these feelings.  Ive had counselling but has any one else experienced this? I wasnt sure if coming off the Zoladex affects you X

  • Hi ,

Great that you have finished treatment, but not a great suprise that you feel down now. The anti-climax after treatment ends is common, I think. The world has just gone on, while you were busy being treated, and when you re-appear, it still just goes on. Coronavirus has overtaken everything as well so the whole world is now upside down. There is a group on this forum called Life after treatment so you may find others in very similar boats on there.

I think recovery is a slow process, and will be especially slow now when all the normal things dont operate because of the pandemic, so building your life back up may be harder than usual. However, hang onto the good days and try to let the bad ones go. You will get there, just takes time.

  • Hi

Thank you for your kind reply. It's just nice to hear from someone who understands. Theres no real local support groups where I live so thank you. I will certainly check out the Life After Treatment group.

  • Hi

Thanks, the group is actually "Life after cancer" but am sure you have found that.

On another group someone posted this link which may also be helpful to you.
