I’m feeling really low today. I was told on Wednesday that the latest scan shows my cancer is growing and I will now need chemo. I started on Palbo/Letrozole last June when first diagnosed and have been quite well, with scan results showing the cancer was shrinking, so this has come as a big shock. I was expecting to get at least two years before progression.
I don’t feel ill at all and I just want to get on with my life. Covid has obviously put a spanner in the works and now this.
I’m going to go for a bike ride - see if I feel any better after that.
If anyone has any info about chemotherapy I’d be really grateful. Doc said he’d send some information but he hasn’t, I feel a bit abandoned and alone to be honest.
Hi moodyblue welcome to the forum and I am so sorry to hear both what has happened for you and that you are feeling so low today.
That must have come as you say as a huge shock for you but I get a sense from your post of grit and determination in you and that grit will carry you through this next part and enable you to get on with life which I and many others completely understand.
I dont know a great deal about chemo but I am inserting a link for you that will take you to the Chemotherapy thread in this forum and if you wanted to ask your question in there some of the lovely folks could answer queries for you if that helps.
Sending you very best wishes for the next part and please do keep in touch and let us know how you get on and I hope that that bike ride has cheered you up at least just a little and sending huge big hugs meantime. xxx
Hi granny59
thank you for your kind words. It’s so nice to know someone is listening - it’s like having a shoulder to cry on. And thanks for the comment about grit and determination, that made me smile. I usually have them in abundance but I’d lost them temporarily. I had a lovely bike ride and I’m feeling much better now. I’ve read the chemotherapy threads and I’m a lot less scared now.
Take care xxx
My wife was the same, 6 months on ibrance/letrozole combo then chemo. She had paclitaxel, 1 hr a week over 18 weeks, there was an option of 3hr x 6 weeks but she chose 18 weeks. She was only sick after the 1st session and was fine the rest of it. She tried the cold cap but only had 2 sessions but didn't like it, she lost her hair but it's grown back now, not everyone loses their hair but there's plenty of hats/scarves/ wigs etc, I don't know what chemo you'll have but good luck and best wishes. X
Thanks Quoman,
Thats very reassuring to hear. I’m still waiting for the info they were going to send - I have another consultation tomorrow so I’ll ask lots of questions then.
Can I ask you - what happened after the chemo? Did your wife go back onto Ibrance / Letrozole or another treatment,
many thanks,
Hello How is your wife finding Exemestane? Is she on one of the generic brands or Aromasin ( Pfizer)?

Hi Judith, not too bad but tumor markers have doubled since last scan, probably due to the fact she's not on the chemo drug iribulin, had scan 2 days ago so will get results in 2 weeks. She gets whatever pharmacy provide. Legs are achy but she's due her zometa soon so it could be that. Paclitaxel was excellent for her but they said try the tablets. Just hoping the scan is ok. X
Hello
Thank you for replying to my query. My Oncologist is holding off Chemo for me too until the Pandemic has lessened.
