Hello everyone
I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in sept 2023 after having a lumpectomy and radiotherapy on the breast in April 22. I have been on ribociclib fulvestrant denosumab as it has spread to my spine. I had op back in September 23 to prop up a vertebrae in upper spine with radiotherapy. My recent scan showed slight changes to the op site and a slight change on rib My oncologist has decided to put me on capecitabine in the new year after a blast of radiotherapy which was last week. So far the mets are confined to spine area and no organs lymph nodes. Can you give me some idea on what to expect on this oral chemo? Thanks everyone

Hi Hennie, sorry to hear your diagnosis. I’m currently on Cape, though side effects differ from person to person, my experience is of blistering hands and feet. Arm yourself with Doublebase cream and moisturise daily your hands and feet. The other side effect is diarrhoea but as long as you’re on top of the loperamide it’s fine. I also found I gained weight and slight personality change. On the whole though it’s not too bad. I’m switching soon as it hasn’t stopped my progression but I understand it’s been very successful for a lot of people. Good luck and I hope Cape works for you! Kx
