Hi everyone, just joined this group after recently being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer (had BC in 2018 with single mastectomy & reconstruction - then in August24 I found a lump in my neck and also have metastasis in my sternum bone) I had my 1st oncology appt yesterday and told i was changing from Tamoxifen to Letrazol which I started today but i'll also be going on Ribociclib chemo tablets - i'm trying to be ultra brave and calm as i've always been a cup half full person but the chemo bit really scares me.

Has anyone been on Ribociclib and what kind of experience / side effects have you had? i've just been booked in for a full bone scan too for this week - dreading the results as its been 6 weeks since my pet scan so really hoping theres nothing else.

  • Really sorry to hear your news. Yes ribociclib was my first treatment along with a bone strengthening infusion among other things. From reading other people’s comments this seems to be the preferred choice. My body didn’t play ball so I was switched Abemaciclib. They may do a biopsy of your bone, perhaps after the bone scan.

I think it’s fantastic they did a PET scan.

All the very best for your results!

  • Hi Peaberrie thanks for commenting, how long were you on Ribo for before you changed meds? I hope your treatment is going well x

  • From memory I was on Ribo for 3-4 months before my liver enzymes became a problem. No everyone has this problem and to be honest I had no other issues on it.

  • Please keep us updated with your results. It does sound as though your hospital is throwing everything at it for you. X

  • Hi, I started on it last month but stopped to have some surgery which I have just finished. I took it for 19 days and had no side-effects. I will let you know if this changes when I go back on.

  •   thank you for your reply good to know you didn't have any side effects - I hope you are feeling ok post your surgery x

  • my specialist nurse said many people don’t. I have had my thighbone pinned but I’m making good progress in my recovery. It was last Friday and I can now walk without crutches for short distances inside.
