Hi just wondered if anyone gives themselves zoladex injections at home?

I am due my first injection tomorrow at the hospital and my oncologist said she was trying to stop me having to go to the hospital in less I really need to due to the virus. I would be happy to give myself the injections but not sure if I will be allowed to?

Hi Pipro. I have Zoladex for prostate cancer. The injection places a small pellet in your stomach. It may be different for your cancer. It always has to be done by a specialist nurse so I would be surprised if they would let you do it yourself. You sound like a brave person offering that so good luck.

Can a nurse pop in and do it for you?

  • Hi, I have zoledex for my endometrial sarcoma. You cannot do it yourself. It is not a little injection, it is an implant that goes into your tummy. I have mine done by the nurse at my doctors surgery.

Well I now look forward to my not small injection tomorrow then.lol.thanks for your reply x

  • Sorry I didn’t mean it to sound like that. I just meant you can’t do it yourself.  You’ll be fine, I’ve been having mine for  5 years now. If you don’t already, you can ask for a 10.8 mg dose that you can have 12 weekly instead of monthly. Good luck for tomorrow x

Hi. It was fine thanks. The injection was a little bit stingy but not too bad. Will go back to the hospital in a month for the next one.

    .

  • Hi I have a friend who does this (post treatment) but I have not got my clinic to agree it yet for me, as they still need to first check your bloods & immune system are ready, to ensure that its safe for you to administer the injection.

  • Just saw this follow up, so a little behind!

You can also ask for numbing cream, and put it on for at least an hour before the injection
