Can anyone recommend a good place to get a second opinion? London would be great, but will go anywhere in UK. Ideally it would be a place that will accept my reports electronically and then let me know if they can do a consult. I've run into places that want me to book an in-person appointment first before they will say whether they can do a second opinion or not.
Looking for a positive pro-active oncologist who believes they can get me as many years as possible! Also someone who communicates well and will take the time to go over options with me and explain their recommendations.
Just saw oncologist after a long wait and finally got a plan, but they were pretty gloomy and depressing, and they do not want to do biopsies or PET or bone scan. They're assuming the mets are all breast cancer and pursuing treatment based on that and are only going to do full body MRI. So far the mets have been found in my spine (and possibly marrow?) and my liver, so concerned about the no biopsies thing.
Hi I have the same problemy. My oncologist doesn't care so I have booked appt with GP and will ask to be referred to Royal Marsden hospital which is apparently best for cancer care.I LIVE in London.
When I see people have so many treatment options she didn't offered even a trail just chemo. And when I needed help with my skin I was told I have to put up with it.
So well done for you you have the right to get a second opinion.I am sure there is so many people they just put their heads down.
Doctors are not perfect and some of them like mine are utter rubbish.
I am only 42 and want to get the same chance like any other person.it doesn't matter that the chemo works I want other options to try too.
Good luck
Hi . I agree with
The Royal Marsden would be an excellent Hospital to contact for a second opinion.

Hi we're the same age. I feel the same way. Sorry you had to put up with that. I hope you find a great oncologist next and will be under the care of someone who treats you with compassion. I wish that for all of us.
Thanks for replying. I had a consultation at Marsden back when I was diagnosed as early stage, and ended up not going with them for treatment. It took a couple months to get through for that consult back then. Not sure if I will try them again, will have a think over it. The oncologist I saw there seemed ok but the communication difficulties put me off.
Thanks . I'll see if there's anyone there that may be a help.
RM has a branch in Surrey too. You could check list of Oncologists to see their details maybe ?
