Hi all , my mum has been in hospital for three weeks now with severe breathlessness, turns out she has bone cancer in various parts of her body. Long story short after trying endless anti biotics, steroids and increasing oxygen, nothing is working. Lungs and heart are all ok from multiple chest X-ray and ct scans. General concencus is traumatic shock so the organs fail. Mum had breast cancer 10yrs ago hormone + and from the bone biopsy she has hormone - cancer. Oxygen levels from 4ltrs to 10ltrs in 4days. We as a family are struggling as to see how and if there is anything we can do, mum is very frightened and as from Monday if nothing changes she wants to come home. If anyone has known of this please help or guide us as we are struggling to come to terms with this.
Hi Stevie13 welcome to the forum and I am so very sorry to hear what is happening for you all right now.
I dont know enough about your query to give any sensible advice but I wondered if you might like to have this conversation with the Advisors at the Macmillan Line by contacting them on 08088080000 and they are open from 8am -8pm every day.
Hope that you manage to get some answers . xxxx
Hi,
again don’t know enough about your query,I had primary breast cancer 2 years ago,and just this april
it has spread to spine, hips, pelvis and liver.I honestly would ask for a second opinion, there should be somewhere in the hospital that you can too.Dont know what hospital you are in but there is definitely a place you can go to,to tell them your concerns.I will get back to you with the name.
Hi,
PALS, patients lesion services they have offices in hospitals, try to find out from them,if they can help.
hope you can get help and find out what is going on with your mums health.
Honestly don’t sit around if you feel things are not right, ask again for a second opinion, just remember people can get things wrong and it does not matter how professional they are.
xxx
