Has anyone ever heard about PET scans showing up inflammatory conditions that aren't cancer (eg arthritis)? I think I might be clutching at straws but something about my secondary diagnosis doesn't add up. Would love to hear about anyone who has had a false positive PET scan result or know of someone who has!
Yours strawclutchingly (where there is hope....)

Hi ,
so they think, probably, that my wife's primary was a fibroid that became cancerous but it was complicated in that she also got pyometra, she had an emergency hysterectomy and it was only after that that her lymph nodes did not go down. At first they thought everything was down to sarcoid but then, finally, a biopsy discovered the Leiomyosarcoma. Ended up on watch and wait for some time but had two different types of chemo and her cancer seems stable now - living with cancer for 6 years now.
All a long story and you can read more if you click on my name in the message header; for us the cancer diagnosis was perhaps something of a releif as finally got to know what we were dealing with.
<<hugs>>
Steve
