I had an early menopause (every symptom in the book) at 43 and was on HRT (which was a life-saver) for 17 years off and on. I gave my patches back to the pharmacy the moment I had a recall from a routine mammogram (I could feel the lump). My lump was, not surprisingly, Oestrogen+, but the kind BC nurse told me that actually there were only 2 reasons I had got breast cancer; 1) I was a woman and 2) I was getting older. I dreaded the letrozole (oestrogen-supressing medication) but the side effects haven't been half as bad as the menopausal symptoms I'd experienced. The worst side effects are the aches and pains in my joints (and muscles). Have now finished radiotherapy and (apart from having to take letrozole every day) I'm feeling okay, relieved to be alive and not a menopausal witch!
Oh thank you this is really encouraging cxx
