Don't know about anyone else Exraygirl but I felt extraordinarily thankful to my radiographers in August/September and never really got the chance to thank them for how easy they made it and the dignity and kindness they showed me. One of them said "oh no! You've done all the hard work!" which kind of broke my heart in a nice way.
So although I don't know you I do hugely appreciate people doing the job you did for so long, and all the small gestures that made my radiotherapy so much nicer and even like a healing experience in a way.
Just want to acknowledge that because I think those things can go unnoticed. It's lovely to hear that you worked to look after people. I hope the very best people are looking after you right now. x
Thank you so much for the appreciation of my profession.
I trained as both a diagnostic radiographer taking X-rays in a and e and theatre and also in radiotherapy treatment . I chose radiotherapy as my primary profession as I liked building a relationship with patients instead of seeing people just once.
I feel I’m getting a bit of that back on this forum as I’m getting to know names so always happy to help anyone
And yes I’m being looked after extremely well as most of my friends are radiotherapy radiographers! Talk about a busman’s holiday!
take care x

Hi Biddygirl
Yes you will have a radiotherapy planning scan.
This isn’t a diagnostic scan but a scan that shows your anatomy and shape so that your radiotherapy plan can be created for just for you . Each plan is unique to that patient.
I have to say that all of the radiographers I’ve seen since starting on this parallel life have been wonderful kind people. From my first experience - CT - where they apologised profusely for asking if I was pregnant (1 day under 55) to MRI where she sat with me and told me about her experience going through it I cannot praise enough.
I have this too. My 5 days of targeted radiotherapy ended early this month. My GP prescribed me Calcium and Vitamin D after a DEXA bone density scan. Hoping that will do the trick. They said I would be recalled in about 3 years but I'm wondering if I should ask for a further bone density scan next year?
