They were so apologetic some days but you can't rush it so it was what it was. Lovely staff did see some the same. Am doing ok. Had quite a bad skin reaction under boob 2 weeks after and was very sore for about 5 days. Sudocrem helped a lot and skin is much better now. Its been 4 weeks. X
Have you been able to work during radiotherapy?
I've been fortunate to work from home since diagnosis and during covid especially as at the start I was very emotional. It's a small company and they've been very accommodating. I enforced slightly reduced hours for so instead of 9 till 5 I get logged on about 930 but by 4 I'm pooped and log off. Tiredness and fatigue is an issue at the moment as I dont sleep well. Some trips even though Christie is only 30 mins from home with delays it could be a 3 hour round trip. If you have accommodating work, I would take it as it goes. I was on 15 sessions so was very glad when it was done x
Wow hope mine is short ,that’s really good.xx
Do remember as cancer patients you are entitled to be treated in line with the Equality Act you are entitled to get revised working conditions and support. Plus GP notes are no longer sick notes but are 'fit notes' and can state fit to work for reduced hours etc. I was a part time teacher so was entitled to pay for 6 month and then was able to work from home (mostly.because of pandemic but..) I don't know how so many of you manage to keep working, I was too, too tired with a fuzz chemo brain.
Good luck to everyone xx
Work have been very supportive. I’ve actually been off work since my lumpectomy as I’m a teacher. I’m hoping to have a phased return when I feel well enough. Thanks for all your advice.
I have 3 RT sessions out of 20 to finish next week. I’ve worked throughout my treatment except for a few weeks after my lumpectomy. It helps take my mind off it. RT has been the easiest so far but that may change. I have become symptomatic in the last week and it’s getting worse. I hope everyone’s treatment goes ok next week. xx
