Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year & had a lumpectomy with lymph node removal (which were clear) followed by radiotherapy.
I was offered genetic testing due to family history & have a faulty BRCA 2 gene.
I am going to have a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction ( I have lymphedema after my radiotherapy so I'm not suitable for delayed reconstruction). I have seen the plastic surgeon today & he has recommended I have LD flap reconstruction with a small implant underneath as opposed to the DIEP flap.
I just wondered if anyone else has had this done & what their experience of it was.
Many thanks.
Hi
I'm really sorry I can't help - and sorry to hear about the BRA2 gene. I'm just replying to bump your post back up to the top of the list in the hope that someone will be around who's got a similar experience to share with you.
Kindest wishes, Lesley
No worries & thank you so much. Having read your story I'm so glad you're fit & healthy & enjoying life x
It does appear that no-one was around at either times. You could try joining the BRCA group and see if you can get some help from ladies on there.
Thanks, yes - it's a great feeling on the annual mammogram when I get clear results and feel like I've got a 'pass' for another year
Take care,
Lesley
