Hi everyone. I had BC in 2013 Grade 1 stage 1. Lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy and then tamoxifen for 5 years followed by Letrazole for two years. I was taken off this drug last year and discharPrayd to now a three year Mano at the mobile unit. I have now discovered another bigger lump in the same breast beside where the previous one was and am waiting on an apt for consultant and scans. I’m sPrayscared this time as I know that I won’t be able to have radiotherapy again. My brain is in overdrive and all the delays are making me ill.  I’m sorry for the long winded story but my question is arePrayhere any other lovely members of this group who have been in a similar situation. If so what was the outcome and treatment plan! Thank you for reading! PrayPray

  • Good morning,

I had DCIS in my right breast 6 years ago and had a double lumpectomy as I also had an area of A Typical cells, followed by 15 rounds of radiotherapy.  Didn't have tablets as margins were very good.

6 mammograms later, biopsy should I had invasive cancer so I had no choice other than a mastectomy. I had my operation on 7the April, right at the peak of this pandemic on the NHS.  I got first class treatment and my consultant was so nice and caring.  Although it is totally horrendous, it is not as bad as I thought it would be. I'm on Letrozole for 10 years along side calcium and vitamin D tablets and gave to take another tablet once a week for my bones to stay strong as Dexa scan showed I had Osteopenia.

I stayed very positive throughout and am very glad that the cancer has been taken out of me.  I live a normal life with my prosthesis and can wear most things that I did before my operation

Hoping everything turns out well for you, keep safe and wishing you all the best for the future.

  • Thank you. Glad to hear your doing well.  Think my main worry is that it might have spread! You’ll know what I mean. Mind in overdrive!!!! X

  • Yes know exactly what you mean. Stay strong and go one step at a time. Deal with things as they happen. Easier said than done I know.

    Kick it into touch.

Hi this is what happened to me i had lumpectomy and radio tx plus Tamoxifen 15 years ago was grade 2 its now back again relatively small gradec2. Have to have mastectomy this time round. Its really frustrating to go through it all again have my op in a weeks time.  Then not sure hopefully just hormones is what i have been told and only chemo if it has spread to the lymph nodes.

Really emphasise with how you are feeling . I thought i was completely cured. Not sure how common it is my friend who went through it again said its not as bad 2nd time round cos you know what to expect.  In a way that is making me more fearful.

I think the worst is not knowing the last few weeks going for all the tests etc are exhausting. Seem to remember that was the case last time as well.

    Good luck with your treatment

  • Thank you for your reply.  It’s the waiting that’s hard! I was referred two weeks ago and still heard nothing. I keep telling myself that it might be nothing but deep down I have a feeling it’s back. I was like you and thought I was “curedI”  I know I’ll feel better once I know what I’m dealing with and had thought it would be mastectomy if it proves to be BC.  How long did you wait from seeing your GP to your first apt?  It’s supposed to be 2 weeks here but when I phoned yesterday I was told my referral was there but consultant hadn’t looked at it yet as they’re short staffed! This makes me sad as I just want to know! Thank you so much for replying.  I hope your op goes well and that you will not need chemo!  Wishing you all the best. Xxx

Feel really sorry for you my appointment was just on the two week deadline. The consultant radiologist told me when she took the biopsy she was pretty sure it was it and that was even before i got the biopsy result . Saw the breast surgeon about two weeks after that then sent for more tests another two weeks then finally the op date last week . Honestly it is so stressful the whole process from seeing gp to getting op date has been about 7 weeks .

Hope you get yours soon the endless waiting for the results is the worse than knowing the treatment.  Although now i am panicking about the surgery just dawning on me i will be saying goodbye to my natural breast .

    My thoughts are with you
